Yes, CarPlay should be required by law... just like seatbelts.

AirDrop works the same way. The connection handshaking is Bluetooth but the bulk transfer is done via wifi.

    • Nothing on the Apple vision Pro? It looks absolutely amazing.

      • I finally decided to retire my 2016 Macbook Pro. I decided to go with the M3 15" Macbook Air rather than Pro. So far so good. I'm not missing the ribbon like I thought I would.

I was intrigued by the ribbon when it came out, but in the long run it proved to be a waste. Just regular buttons are better IMO.

MB Air is the ultimate laptop. I use the 13 inch.

          • I have been an Android user for my entire smartphone having years (except for the horrible mistake of the 2-years with a Blackberry Storm). I'm ultimately happy with Android. However, my wife and 2 of my stepchildren have iPhone. I am reaching that point where it may just be easier to join the same ecosystem. I'm considering when the next iPhone comes out converting over to the Pro Max.

Any thoughts from people that have converted from Android to iPhone? I feel like I've committed to Android for so long that I am admitting failure by converting over.

I briefly had a Blackberry (my first smartphone) before moving to the iPhone 3GS. It's been all Samsung Android phones from then. Sorry I can't help.

I think ERCoug made the transition within the last 4-5 years. I remember him texting me and asking me a few things. His biggest gripe was no back button and swipe text sucks compared to Android. I’m sure there were other adjustments.

The government wanted Apple to provide a backdoor for government to access user data. Apple refused and instead removed encryption entirely for UK users.

How is that not a loss of data privacy for UK users?

                                There's finger pointing going on.

The government was asking them to build a back door to access encrypted data. I think that means when the courts would issue a warrant, they could then use that back door. Apple says, we don't build back doors for anyone. So as a matter a principle, to comply with the UK's demand for government access, they are taking away the end-to-end encryption, leaving them with standard encryption.
