This is an interesting summary. The motivation stated here is what I've always heard. But the latter part makes it sound as though Lebowski proposed a voting system and implemented it. Voting had been in place over a year before Lebowski agreed to manage the admissions process.

As an original member of the crypt the first part is pretty accurate. The truth is when CougarGuard first started the few of us who posted started threads about subjects that were taboo on Cougar Board. El jefe and his mods regularly lurked and in fact one CougGuard poster was disciplined on Cougarboard for what he had written on CougarGuard. As a result Mike created a forum that was private and the few of us that were registered were admitted.

From the get go we had an informal vote to admit people to the Crypt. As a forum it had it's moments -- good and bad. But it's primary purpose early on was to shield us from El Jefe's all seeing eye. When the succession occurred and CUF was created the Speakeasy was created with the hopes some of the mystique of the crypt would be recreated.

Yes. I had nothing to do with the creation of a voting process. MW asked for someone to take over some of the admin load and I "volunteered".
