If this thread is a sample of your sibling repartee, I am so excited and grateful that you both have found CUF and look forward to more. If there is anything CUF loves, it is definitely 2 guys that were suspended on cougarboard coming here and goofing around!Originally posted by doctorcoug View PostNow we can really start picking on each other since the eyes of El Jefe are no longer here.Fitter. How is your campaign to get bronco fired going? Last I read you were going to meet with some high up in the AD and also threaten to curtail donations unless they got rid of him.Originally posted by Viking View PostUpon the cessation of my current suspension, I will post something truly vile, and be banned for life. Probably something about Bernard's certainly insufficient anatomical features and his gay lover's lack of satisfaction. I happen to know the real Bernard and yes, he is a putz.
I'm glad to be here, and even happier that my younger brother, doctorcoug (soon-to-be aka publicservantcoug) didn't steal my moniker, tempted as I 'm sure he was. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Ironically you flee here from Cougarboard, yet this sentence is a perfect example of what so many of us hoped to escape when we fled Cougarboard.Originally posted by VikingHe sadly lacked the charisma to even contend for Seminary President, let alone Seminary Council.
You see, in order to properly effectuate a "not even . . . let alone" statement in an attempt to emphasize the extreme character of a situation, you must associate the lesser achievement with the "even" portion of the expression and the greater achievement with the "let alone" portion.
By associating the greater achievement (in this case, Seminary President) with the "even" portion, you leave open the possibility that the lesser achievement (in this case, Seminary Council) is actually achievable, thus forcing you to explain the non-achievement thereof with a subsequent "let alone" idiom.
However, when you associate the lesser achievement with the "even" portion, then you succeed in pointing out that the lesser achievement was not achievable, and you allow reason to explain the rest. For if the lesser achievement was not attainable, it follows logically, then, that the greater achievement was that much less so. Not that you wouldn't complete the expression (though you certainly aren't forced to, as you are with the incorrect version), but that your "let alone" follow-up is merely a reinforcement of your initial statement and not a furtherance of the explanation.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I never had an issue with Bernard, as far as I remember. I detest message board popularity jockeying, and the Bernard is a loser/Bernard for heisman stuff suggests to me that I wouldn't like him irl, but whatever I don't really care. Message board popularity king generally = irl loser. Same goes for DDD.
The moderator that always used to censor and censure me was Thibious. I never interacted with him much on the board and didn't know much about him, but he loved being a moderator and took his job seriously.
P.S. nice catch Donuthole on the even/let alone clause fail. It didn't read write for me but I was just skimming and didn't stop to determine why.
