Plus, esp. in BYU's case, the quality of a class may not be known for at least 2-3 years or more.

That said, are today's signings thought to be roughly consistent with, or better or worse than, BYU's typical class? Okay, I guess I care a little....
I don't follow BYU recruiting that closely (obvs!), except when it overlaps with Utah's. The Cougars definitely signed some guys the Utes would have loved this year: Fano and Damuni come to mind. The best class I can remember for Kilani.

But the real interlopers to in-state recruiting recently have been the HuskyFreeNorthwest and the HuskyNorthwest teams: Oregon and Washington took four of the top 10 guys in Utah. It's a real bummer to play these teams every year and have local dudes (Sewell at Oregon, Jones at Washington) kill us.

      • That's very cool. Last night I re-watched the final minutes of that game at the same time in the evening I was watching the original 40 years ago. Unquestionably one of greatest comeback finishes of all time. It bugged me that Doug Flutie's Hail Mary against Miami has received more pub over the years. Flutie started more than 20 yards closer to the end zone than did Jimbo.

I wish Bill Schoepflin (one of the best DBs in BYU history) were in Cabo with them, as it was his punt block that set up the Hail Mary--a most fitting appellation, btw, since all three of those guys were raised Catholic.

I think I might change my score prediction. Ugh...

              • Welp, this will make it easy for me to just excuse away a loss and sleep well tonight either way.

                • Grimes and Mateos? Yeesh.

Also, I must admit I would rather BYU were in Army’s position of sliding into the Liberty Bowl to play WVU. That said, I’m always up for a chance to watch Zach, Gunnar, Dax, Tyler, etc. Go, Cougars!

I suspect part of the appeal of the Boca Raton bowl was being done by Dec. 23.

Vegas' line still says BYU -6.0. Hmm...

For the team, I can certainly see that. As a fan, I am all for additional practices and a Big XII opponent.

For all those except Wilcox, that I what I have heard.

Wilcox signed with an agent today or yesterday, so he is looking towards the draft. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have covid and decided to sign because he can't play.

Udo may also be a separate injury.
