For the sake of posterity (hi, grandkids!) I thought I'd include the important info from these rankings here. The top of the table:Originally posted by Lost Student View PostColleyMatrix Football Rankings are the best rankings.

This was always going to be the toughest game on the revised schedule until Boise St was added. Houston has legit athletes on both sides of the ball and I'm looking forward to seeing how we match up against similar talent for the first time this year. Climbing up the rankings while playing overmatched teams and while half the country is still not playing is fun and all, but I'm curious to see how good this BYU team is compared to the past couple years. Being that thin on the Dline isn't helpful, but our offense should get back on track if the rumors Empey will play are true. If any of you live in Vegas, put some money down for me on the over.

With 6 teams ahead of us not playing and only one losing that could fall below us, I think we come out tomorrow at 13, maybe 12 if we can jump Oregon. With all of the postponed games I think that our best bet for a good postseason position is to not have any more postponements. 10 games looks better than 6, 7, or 8 when push comes to shove. If I were a voter, I think this year I would put less weight on SOS and most on record since there is not much cross-conference play, hence more games is better.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

The only QB who may be playing better than Zach Wilson is Trevor Lawrence. Wilson has accounted for 18 TDs and has just one INT. The Cougars are physical and play hard on defense. They got a nice win against a dangerous Houston team on Friday night.

Can anyone explain why Cincinnati is ranked so much higher than BYU? They beat Austin Peay (0-3), USF (1-4), and Army (5-1). Is the Army win at home more impressive than BYU beating Houston and Navy on the road? Austin Peay (FCS without a win) and USF (their one win was against Citadel) are both awful.Last edited by UVACoug; 10-18-2020, 08:52 AM.

So looking ahead to get one, maybe two more games. I am sure TH has considered all this but here is how I would approach it. We already have 7 home games, so we should offer to travel no matter where in order to get the game. Obviously we want Army on the 28th. That leaves us the 5th to put a full court press to get that last game. (The 19th is another option, but I think we should take the time to recoup and prepare for what could be a very tough bowl game if we get any respect at all.)
There are 9 teams, well 20, but only 9 who have a high enough ranking (Sagarin for ease of access and completeness) to be worth playing on the 5th that have an open date.
UCF 36
SMU 38
Pitt 58
UAB 63
Charlotte 71
Arkansas St 72
Tulane 77
Georgia St 79
Obviously the top 3 are far preferable than the rest, (Pitt more for the P5 Prestige) and we may not want to go below the top 4. But offering a COVID special one and done just to get a game scheduled would be beneficial to the team when the committee looks at them. I am starting to become a true believer that we could take all comers.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

Boise looked pretty good against a USU team that is better than most other teams BYU has played this year (maybe about equal to Houston). If BYU beats Boise on the smurf turf, which they have never done before, then I will be a true believer.Originally posted by Copelius View PostSo looking ahead to get one, maybe two more games.
