Mckay Jacobsen continues to impress catching passes of 22, 25 and 36 yards yesterday. Amazing that he would be the 7th fastest receiver at Utah.

From what I have heard so far about Utah's QB's, if the Ute receivers are as fast as they claim, by the time the QB gets his 3 step drop and sets up the receivers will be further downfield than any of their QB's would be able to throw it.

If Aiona Key got to practice against BYU's defensive backfield, he'd look good, too.

I hate to admit it, but that's a fair point. But that's something I hate anyway about fall camp/practices in general. You never know if a unit is performing well or if the unit they are up against just sucks.

He only averaged 2 catches a game in 2006, so he wasn't lighting up that many people.

McKay piled up the big games against UNLV, SDSU, New Mexico, CSU.

I am excited for McKay, but I have said before that Collie set the bar ridiculously high for an RM at WR. McKay had average at best games against the bowl teams we played in 06, and I think there might need to be some tempering of excitement about him stepping right in where Collie left off.

yup. Collie was a once a decade (byu standards) receiver. He will be missed.

I think McKay will have 500-600 yards receiving this year. I prefer our receiving yards to be spread around. If we can get another wideout with about that many and two or three more with 200-300 yards each, we'll be in great shape.

I'd also like to see our TE receptions distributed better. George is a talent and having him at 600 yards receiving and Pitta at 800 would be better than Pitta at 1000 and George at 400.

It is good to see McKay doing well but I hope Hall doesn't get too much of a man crush like he did on Collie.

Remember his freshman year he was on a very veteran team with Zac Collie, Harline, Daniel Coats, Matt Allen, Mike Reed, Nate Meikle, Curtis Brown, and Manase Tonga. He came in and still had 547 receiving yards that year averaging almost 20 yards per catch.

Exactly. Not a surprise that he got more playing time against the teams we got up on early in 06. He was still just a freshman.

look I am not saying he got Nate Meikle pt. but he was a solid contributer. Is that wrong or am I forgetting all his drops and fuck ups? I don't think I am.
