seems like he'll be pretty similar to brooks, which i think is mostly a good thing. similar in the sense that those big backs take a second to get going, but once they do, they can get up and go.
Looks like a slightly above average class for Kalani. It could certainly be worse. I expect a significant jump next year. Whether or not BYU gets it is another story.
I am already sick of hearing about Utah's recruiting class. Co workers, KSL, Twitter, etc. Smack talk already ridiculous. I guess finishing seasons with 3 or 4 losses makes you a powerhouse now.

Per-player rating is higher but we have a smaller number of commits. The end result is a ranking that is a step back from recent years.
feels like a field goal when you needed a touchdown.

Utah could be in a pretty good spot. Is the new PAC10 now going to have every team play every team? In that case, maybe not as good as I think. But with UCLA and USC leaving the south division, there's really not much competition keeping them from getting a good record and continued PAC championship games. If they add someone like SDSU to the south, that isn't quite the same as playing either of the two leaving.
If they do play all 9 other teams, I guess Oregon and Washington schools could give them a run now and then. But they're still in a pretty good spot to be top 2 and in the game. We'll see if/how long it takes Prime to get Colorado off of life support.

Oregon is by far the top dog though. Utah had the best of Oregon last year, but that's it. Oregon out recruits them. Washington typically out recruits them. But I agree Utah will be in the mix most years. If Whit keeps coaching its clear they will make the expanded playoffs at some point.
I watched his 2019 highlights (best year for sure) and throws a great ball. It also helped that he had Michael Pittman and Amon-ra St Brown to throw to. Drake London was also on that team
Does anyone here have legit information on how to contact a recruiting coordinator for BYU? The past couple of years I got back into coaching youth football. This past Fall season our team was the U14 Provincial champions. We start training for our Spring - Summer season in couple of weeks.
At the tail end of COVID, after all of the lockdowns (much stricter here, than in the US) we wanted to get my 13-year-old out of the house doing something, so signed him up for football. I volunteered as a team manager and helped with special teams. This request is not for him. He turned out to be a very good football player (Field side D-end, tight-end, punter, place kicker—in youth football he did not come off the field). Now 15 and in high school I think he has topped out at 6’ 1.5” (6’ 2” in cleats). He will get by on academics. There are however, younger boys I will be coaching worth a look.
This upcoming spring season I am offensive coordinator. We’ve got three boys who are 14 playing their final U14 season before moving on to high school. They are recognized by the league as three of the best players in the province.
The best of the 3 started two seasons ago (12 years old, 6”) at left tackle on offense. He is now 6’ 3”, still growing and rightly considered the best D-lineman in the province. He is a pure athlete, unblockable, and he has become a very good basketball player between football seasons.
He is a great kid, humble, respectful, and religious. His Mom is African and does not put up with nonsense. We have a good rapport, largely because I speak French. He will have recruiters looking at him, especially when they see he has grown since the fall season ended in November.
The next best of the three is the best running back in the province for his age. He is also an outstanding basketball player (on the same rep team with the other boy). His parents are also African and strict. He is currently 6’ 1”, but I think he has stopped growing.
At running back, he has been a man among boys. However, looking to the future I think he should focus more on defense. But it is hard to tell a 14-year-old boy who scored nearly 30 touch downs that as he gets older, other athletes could catch up to him. And it’s hard not to give him 20 plus touches a game.
The third boy is our QB. He is 6’ 2” and still growing. He is a great athlete. He has a great arm, but frankly, when he was 12, we moved him to tight end. That is the position where he has a future.
This isn’t a humble brag, or hey look at me. Coaching was a huge blessing for me over the past several months. It helped keep me sane. This upcoming season I was asked and have decided to take on a bigger role. These really are good kids. I love BYU and figure why not let them know about the talent that is here.

Awesome…. It’s seems there was a website or something you could give recruiting tips to BYU athletics. (I found it once searching years ago.) In any case, get some highlight videos up and post some links. Youth football is great.
p.s. Think about taking him to a BYU football camp over the summer.

I have a good rapport with all the parents, but I also have a PhD, don't swear or screem at the boys, and I am the only coach that speaks French. As coaches, for some of the boys we are father figures, and having one who is highly educated plays well to the parents who sacrificed a lot for their children by immigrating. Her English is great, but she is pleased that after games I am able to explain some of the nuances of the game in French.
