Huge get for Utah. No doubt this is one of those signings where going to the Pac 10 was a significant factor.

Really a down year for instate recruits. Langi should be a nice get for the Utes if he stays out of trouble. Fakahafua I think will be solid. Still is average at best, Robles is christian cox 2.0. I think Asiata has potential.

It is a down year for the state of Utah in regards to recruits. I love Langi and Fakahafua. In the words or our good friend goatnapper, they make my nipples hard. Especially Fakahafua. All the others don't get me excited much at all. Of the BYU in state recruits, the one I would be most excited about is Kensi (SP) the DL from Bingham. That kid could step in a play next year, not sure if he is a mission kid or not. I haven't seen Matthews play at all and only watched a few series of the AA game today. I have a friend who is an American Fork High School grad and huge BYU fan who knows his stuff and has watched Matthews many times, he tells me Matthews is overrated. I will take his word for it.

I like Kesni but I think the earliest impact player from that Bingham defense will be Moses Kaumetele. He blew me away with his size and speed off the edge.

The more times I hear that name the more glad I am that we won't have to listen to BYU fans making fun of it.

Man, I am very bummed by Mr. Moore's decision to go to Ole Miss. The minuted I heard he committed to Utah I started working on material. What a waste of time.

When it comes to in-state recruits... we will see more and more of this in the years to come.

Rice-Eccles is going to be hosting some big football games.

BYU will always out recruit lower tier Pac-10 teams especially with the LDS kids. If Utah wants to keep this up they will need to consistently be in the upper half of the PAC. With that being said they may not want as many local kids and go after more national recruits in the coming years.

If you listen to U fans they never recruited much out of the state (towing the party line) of Utah the past few years,,,but magically there's a bevy of good local talent to get this signing period and thus why they're signing more than they normally do from Utah.

It's interesting the excuses ones (there just isn't that good talent in Utah) will make when they consistently get their ass handed year in and year out with the local talent..then they magically change their tone when they sign more in-state kids than they recently have. In the past kids like Daniel Kristensen, Daniel Nelson and the other kid out of Hunter are kids Utah would've not normally gone after in-state....but they did this year. Why? Because word had traveled around to local coaches and filtered up to the Utah coaches that they'd gotten considerably behin the 8 ball in regards to recruiting in-state over the past 5 years (I've talked to 4 different High School Head Coaches about this) and this signing period is the beginning of trying to rectify that mistake. It was deliberate change in strategy to get back in the graces of the Utah High School coaches. A shift in strategy if you will. A smart change to get back into recruiting the state harder.

By the way...Langi is a very good get for Utah. He's good enough to play from opening day and he should, considering who they have back there. Fakahafua is also a big time stud. He's athletic enough that if he doesn't end up at WR, he could be very good elsewhere.

I've spoke with Coach Peck at Bingham extensively about this and he told me that Utah didn't recruit Bingham very hard because the coaches up there just always assumed that the kids there were on a bee-line straight to BYU, but the truth is he said they rarely showed up at campus to talk to their kids until the past year. They've signed 4 kids there the past several years (Derek Tuimauga, LT Filiaga and they're about to sign Seni Fanuoko and Harvey Langi).....and he told me that was a gross mis-calculation on the coaches part and that had they even made an attempt there's more kids they could've gotten. This sentiment is shared by many of the in-state coaches.

Utah has some bridge re-building to do in-state and this 2011 class is the begninning of that.

Jay Hill is Utah's recruiter for the state. He is getting out on the in-state kids earlier the last 2 years and it is making a difference. Utah has slow played some kids in the past, waiting to see how their senior year goes or seeing if they can get a better althete out of Texas or California, only to lose out because of a lack of offer/perceived interest. They got burned in Texas last year after all of the early commits, decommitted(many used their Utah offer to leverage other offers). I think that experience has changed their focus.

Word has it he was a sure-thing for Michigan but they wanted him to play defense so he took off. Seems like a big blunder for the new coaching staff, but maybe that means they've got some great receivers lined up.

Yes that is the same Tee Martin. He was a QB coach with Mike Locksley at UNM for one year before going to THEM as the WR coach.
