In truth, I don't think DOD pays a dime for any of these charges. They make their people pay off the balance, including any interest.

I hate having to use the official credit card for travel. I use my own card as much as possible to get the points.

    • BYU does a good job of keeping things quiet.

OTOH, I know TH is plodding through the process, but we will lose recruits if he doesn't close up soon enough. Troy Warner is rumored to have visited USC now. Damn it. We don't get quality defensive backs and losing our once in a lifetimer isn't a good thing.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

This hire is bigger than retaining a couple recruits in this year's class. I'm not concerned at all about the time, unless it ends up causing us to miss on a coach we wanted.

Radio is reporting that the "plan" all along was for Ken to visit BYU, then return to Navy before making his decision.

Also - that the "plan" all along was for BYU to interview other candidates as well. Many assumed that Sitake had already been contacted and interviewed. They were wrong. He is interviewing today.

Who knows - maybe Anderson is coming in to visit and interview tomorrow.

KW is scheduled for Thursday, they'll find an empty room in a casino to visit after Utah's practice that day - which they'll all be in town for the game.

On one hand, BYU does everything on the QT. That allows the participants to have whatever discussions they wish. OTOH, the lack of transparency also contributes to fan paranoia. At other places, there is an appearance of transparency. BYU never gives that delusion.

Although I agree with you that it is not about a few recruits in this class, it is about success next year and the year beyond. Catching up on recruits who affect next year's performance is important as how BYU fares next year will be significant. So although I agree with your general tenor, I don't believe this year's class and next year's performance is entirely irrelevant if that is what you meant.

Why did none of these interviews occur last week? If any of these assumptions are true, then that is perplexing.

              • Pick a f$ckin coach, already. Troy Warner is now weighing USC and will "make a decision before Christmas"

We hire a great coach, he'll salvage those recruits. We hire a crappy coach, we'll lose them and maybe more. The critical thing is to make a great hire. That said, I'm not sure that's possible...

Given the immense limitations BYU has, I agree. BYU may only be in the business of hiring second rate coaches, or young coaches who are not paid market rate.

                    • Any substantiated rumors on the coaching search? Does anyone have an account on twitter that can supply us with the latest takes? TIA.

Get a hold of yourself. We are in a dead period now for recruiting and no matter who the new coach is he couldn't talk to any recruits until January 15.

How do you KNOW this and what do you KNOW? I'm pretty sure very few really KNOW the details of what is going on behind the scenes right now and what has transpired since Bronco announced he was leaving.

                              • So TH is 2/2 on high profile coaching hires in his tenure. That's a much better percentage than the good doctor up north. I realize this is his most difficult hire yet, but I trust he knows what he's doing. If he hits another home run, he belongs up there just below Lavell in terms of impact on BYU athletics.
