I'm having a really sick feeling like the church is going to do something stupid because they loved how awesome Ken N was in Meet the Mormons and force TH to hire him.

Can you bring in data from the santos power rating?Originally posted by pelagius View PostGrabbed Sagarin's predictor model (pretty close to well implemented pure MOV model). Last five year's at Navy average: 58.0. No sub 80 seasons. Pretty consistently in 50-60 with one season in the 40s.

I think you're missing the point.Originally posted by BlueK View PostWe won't win with that stupid offense because we haven't recruited for it.
I'm not the coach. Get a coach who is good. Let him coach the team to win. He doesn't need dumbass fans from the sidelines telling him what system to run or what plays to call. Hire a good coach. Let him do his thing.
If we're debating offenses and personnel, then that is different and I tend to agree. Certain schemes require certain players. BYU doesn't seem to have the personnel in place to run the triple option.
But that's not my problem. I'm saying that scheme and personnel is the coaches problem. He can run whatever the hell he wants to, I don't care. As long as he wins.
I think if you took the time to think about it, all things being equal, you would agree that you are more interested in winning than scheme.
If I'm wrong - and you only want to win if you can do it running certain schemes, then I don't know how to help you.

All you wussies have your knickers in a knot. He's just a football coach, not the second coming of Christ. He will hire the best assistants available, and his overriding concern will be to win. (Not to implement the triple option!) He will either win, or he will get fired. All your pissing and moaning has turned into a wake mourning the Bronco regime. Why can't change be good? Maybe we'll get a better staff. Maybe not, but you're all sounding like a bunch of old women. 13 years is a long time. Let's move on.

If we want to be a midlevel g5 team then the triple option is an option.Originally posted by Eddie View PostI think you're missing the point.

Our scheme is fine. Going to a scheme no one runs for a reason is automatically a bad idea. We just have 50 years of history to prove it. But in the fantasitcal world where we could hypothetically win using a scheme that we have never run and none of our recruiting base is interested in or is fit for, lets try it for 5 years and kill the program and then start back over with the scheme that worked before.

You're confusing what is happening here with mourning the Bronco regime. Change might be good. But, as with any change, there are certain probabilities involved that can be hard to ignore. I am looking forward eagerly but the probability of a good season next year, given our schedule, is not nearly as high as I would like it to be. But, in general, I do agree that it is just sports, after all. It's not like any of us are crazy enough to do something like have season tickets to both Utah and BYU, right? We should just keep it real.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostAll you wussies have your knickers in a knot. He's just a football coach, not the second coming of Christ. I just don't trust the higher ups to pay for or make the best decision. The things they like aren't necessarily the things that make a great program.Originally posted by creekster View PostYou're confusing what is happening here with mourning the Bronco regime. Its not about Bronco worship. It is about realizing that there are likely no good options to replace him. It is about looking at the program faced with its most difficult position in terms of schedule coupled with a razor margin of error that is independence. Its about looking at this program and realizing that a coaching change right now can send our program into outer darkness. Its about loving BYU so much it hurts and its about knowing that you are about to get crushed.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostAll you wussies have your knickers in a knot. So you can call me a 13 year old wimp or woman...whatever. To me it just seems like you don't either love the program like I do, or you don't fully appreciate the problem that we face. So while you are telling me to grow up, I am telling you to WAKE UP!Dyslexics are teople poo...

Maybe, maybe not. If that is true, however, then the program is doomed to a slow decline into Bolivia. I prefer to think that in addition to some of the other factors to which you allude, the admin also wants to win.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI just don't trust the higher ups to pay for or make the best decision. Anderson has been my realistic choice from the beginning. I think that he has been a winner at every level he's been at and has succeeded without the hand-holding (cough*Sitake*cough) from someone else. Along with that, his recruiting skills are fantastic and would be very valuable in his position as HC.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostI didn't even need all of this analysis to know I don't want Ken N anywhere near the BYu program. However, from a rational perspective, BYU is in BIG trouble. We all need to be praying that we luck out with an unproven HC like we did with Bronco and LaVell. I have a really really bad feeling about all of this.
That being said, if we can pry Whit away from Utah, go for it. But if the realistic choices are KenN, Sitake and Anderson, I would choose Anderson every time.
