This is a fascinating interview by Hans and Scotty. They interview Trevor Reilly who breaks down the Otro PE deal. Evidently, that money will go to service debt and to the coaches' salaries. He estimates this year's debt for the UofU Athletic Dept to be somewhere between $30-40 million. He's worried because BYU and others are far ahead from an NIL standpoint. None of the Otro money will go to NIL. Go to 10:40.

There's a great character on the show "What We Do in the Shadows." The show is about these vampire roommates who live in Staten Island. Most of them are Eastern European and fit the traditional vampire mold, except for one. He's a normal American cubicle worker named Colin Robinson. He's an energy vampire and his role is to drain people of their energy, mostly through boring conversations or annoying behavior. This clip of him arguing online is pretty great. Wow, he doesn't paint a very positive picture. $30-$40 in debt? How? I was also struck by his bleak assessment of where uofutah sits financially vis-a-vis BYU, pointing to uofutah basketball as the future of uofutah football if something isn't done to increase inflows of cash. IMO that must come from donors, but he offered no real solutions in that vein, other than to say uofutah fans need to step up. Kinda bleak. I didn't realize just how bleak it is. Utah has a problem because its traditional donor sources are dying out, and the money is spread around between kids and charities. The kids are wealthy, but their individual wealth is now a fraction of what their parents had. The heirs simply can't afford to be as generous.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
