Despite the URL, the article does not talk about the Utes in the playoffs this year.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

So maybe Utahs win over Oregon was a good win, but probably not. But hey if it was, let me write this article so I can say I told you so.
Glad you posted this.
Go back and reexamine Utah’s 2008 season and it looks even better in retrospect: The Utes beat a ranked Michigan team1 (on the road) to start that year, too, and then they beat an Oregon State team that would end up with nine victories. They blew through the Mountain West without a blemish, defeating 11th-ranked TCU (the aspirational program of the decade to date) by a field goal, blasting ranked BYU by 24 points, and overcoming fourth-ranked Alabama by two touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl.if the modern system existed back then, it’s not unfathomable to believe the Utes could have made the College Football Playoff, knocked off the Tide, and then defeated an Urban Meyer–coached Florida team to win it all, thereby napalming the system of haves and have-nots to pieces.whenever I watch Utah play, I think to myself, This team is well coached. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

You all should hold another parade for 2008.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostYou are the master of cherry picking.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

While I do find the article interesting, I do disagree with his premise about Utah potentially making the playoffs in 2008 if the system in place now was in place then. For the same reason BYU is not getting in the playoffs (well you know other than they won't be going undefeated), Utah wouldn't have made it unless they are a part of the haves. The system has fortunately been set up to shut out the have nots.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Agree 100% that it would take a very special and unique institution to be able to win the sports two highest prizes despite, as you correctly indicate, tremendous odds and institutional bias set up against that institution. You are also correct that Utah is not of that caliber. Why don't you get more credit for being right sometimes??Originally posted by mpfunk View PostWhile I do find the article interesting, I do disagree with his premise about Utah potentially making the playoffs in 2008 if the system in place now was in place then. No worries, AJ. Turns out that there is a perfectly logical explanation:Originally posted by Applejack View PostI wanted to give all you cougars a few days to process this last loss.
Two new utes in the Q12 (and an Aggie? WTF?). Byu gets shutout yet again.
Living right.

BTW, you are welcome to come here and chat about religion anytime. I understand that LAU has instituted a religion purge over on UB5 so as to not appear to be an "elder's quorum", thereby turning off potential new ute fan posters."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I didn't know about that, but it makes sense; no reason to discuss religion on a Ute board. We are all part of The One True And Living University on the Face of the Earth. #TraviswilsonforheismanOriginally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHis heart was in the right place!

I am sad to report that my face may be on Gameday singing the Utah fight song. Just got an email from the choir that ESPN has requested it. Since we are all about exposure for the Church, the choir will be recording that tonight.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman
