"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" - The Rivalry Thread
I told my Ute counterparts that the decision to quit the rivalry was stupid, and invoked the threats made by Hughes at the time. I wasn't sure if there was any grounds for sponsoring a bill to make it law for it to continue, but I hadn't considered a legislative audit at the time, and I give Hughes credit for creative thinking.
I really wish that Hill wasn't such a whiner about BYU stuff. I sincerely doubt that the audit will find anything extremely controversial, but it should produce the desired result, which is to make Hill squirm. Hopefully, it will also spur the rivalry to resume. oh, and transparency, yeah that too.
I do find McCays language funny, though. The second quote cougjunkie shared was essentially: "We think Utah athletics is too cocky now, so we're gonna audit them into submission, and make sure our money isn't going toward their egos!"
I also like that he invokes "bipartisan" which is funny because I doubt that it is voluntarily bipartisan. The subcommittee consists of only 4 folks, majority and minority leaders from both houses. Also funny is his appeal to the fact that the 4-vote decision to audit was unanimous. When have any politicians ever voted to give themselves less influence over a smaller footprint? I love politician speak!
I missed the part where all Utes are of one political party and all Cougars are of another. Not sure what bipartisan has to do with anything if you're talking about why someone would care about Utah athletics finances.
FYI for Funk - McCays is a USU grad. I'm sure he's pissed about Utah not playing BYU.
I know. That shit is embarrassing. Now I know who the idiot who claimed to be a BYU alum was that called into the show and asked McCay what legislators were going to do to keep BYU accountable for their antics in embarrassing the state of Utah.
Dan McKay should worry more about his good buddy Greg Hughes bribing other senators to change their votes and getting in fist fights at games than whether or not the Utes play his favorite teams.
You keep mentioning this fistfight like somebody cares.
"Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."
Booyah! I don't know what "#66 Utah" means (do they have a top 75 in women's tennis?) but this is just as meaningful as a win in football, Men's basketball, or women's volleyball.
