We really should be making some of these kids that aren't getting paid play 17-18 games, I'd like to see it stretch to 20! Why not make it a 64 team bracket just like basketball?

I'll make the argument that one of the great things about college football is that the regular season means something. Lose one game and a team no longer controls it's own destiny. Lose two games and national championship hopes are over unless a team becomes a once-every-20-years exception. In my view, a 4-team playoff is about right although I'm open to considering an 8-team playoff if the four team format proves that a legitimate national championship contender is left out. There's still a month of football left and things will shake out. IMO, the worst thing that could happen for college football would be for a 16-team playoff where the regular season doesn't really matter.

With a 16 team playoff with 11 conference champs and 5 at-large invites, the regular season very much matters as the best way to get an invite is to win the conference.

Why is a playoff good for every level of basketball and every level of football except FCS? A sixteen team playoff only adds three extra games and it could be played on consecutive weekends and still end in December.

if BYU were in a 16 team playoff and hosted the first round in Provo against Iowa or Stanford or Florida State, I dont think I would care because the games they played in September would have been mostly meaningless. That's a game im skipping, sjbh

Now when BYU is obviously out of it, you have BYU fans criticizing Ute fans for running scenarios how Utah could make the playoffs at 12-1, when Utah is actually 12th in the current playoff rankings.
