Psssh. They have 7 games left and 5 of those teams, if they play to their potential, could beat Utah. Utah is a Wilson or Booker injury away from becoming very average. But right now they are very much above average.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostBigfoot is Cain is Isaiah the Prophet.

Both AZ schools are a bad match up. I can see both as a loss.Originally posted by USUC View PostPsssh. They have 7 games left and 5 of those teams, if they play to their potential, could beat Utah. I picked the moniker fifteen years ago while at work in downtown Palo Alto (I'd been there since the mid-80s). But I was born and raised in the East Bay not far from Cal and started liking the Bears early on (I remember Joe Kapp leading Cal to its last Rose Bowl appearance, during the Eisenhower administration). So I've always had a good-natured antipathy toward Stanfurd, while suffering patiently waiting decades for a Rose Bowl return. Tough loss tonight.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostHow does it happen that someone with Palo Alto in his name, not be a Stanford fan? I've always held you in high regard, but as the biggest Stanford fan on the board (I go back to the Jim Plunkett/Randy Vataha years), I might need to re-evaluate that regard.

The word of the day is lucky; as in it's better to be lucky than good; as in the Utes are lucky that Booker plays for them; as in the Utes were lucky that Goff played the worst game of his life; as in the Utes were lucky they didn't get throttled.
The Utes were outplayed, out coached and out-everythinged in every phase of the game save for Booker doing his job."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

My daughter doesn't know how good she had it the last couple of years. She went to a lot of the home games and saw a lot of wins. This year she's been kind of busy. She was thinking about going to the game; this was a good one to miss.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostOregon screwed themselves. Giving up 8,000 passing yards, countless 3rd and 9+ situations for first downs or more, running the ball three times up the guy when all you need is a couple of first downs. Oregon is a bad football team right now, I'm struggling to see a bowl game this season. They only need a QB and a defense, maybe 2 offensive linemen. Get that and they could be good."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Yes, they are stupid. I think the less people pay attention to irrational commentary and polls, the better. But every computer ranking has Utah in the top 10 as well, so this one's probably right (of course, they're benefiting from a win over a Michigan team that's getting better over the season...and we're benefiting from a lucky win over a good team that was closer than the final score). If people paid attention to objective ratings and not dumb commentary, they'd realize that USC is easily Utah's toughest game left, but everyone lost interest in USC when they had a close second loss to a Washington team that's better than the dumb commentators would suggest. Also, the PAC 12 isn't as bad as the dumb commentators think.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostUtah may very well show they're deserving of their high ranking. But they seemed to vault up the chart after beating a highly overrated Oregon team. Polls are stupid, really. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Well, no not every computer ranking, but they are consistently high right now. Even then you have to look at what they're measuring to understand what they mean. Don't get me wrong--they're a good team. They also control their own destiny at this point. USC will be a tough game, but the championship game may well be a match-up against Cal again, at a neutral site in California.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostYes, they are stupid.
