Another thing to consider that I know sounds ridiculous, but Arizona may actually be a good team. The last time the Zoo started 4-0 they finished 12-1. For a frosh, Solomon looked really good out there. He made some bad throws and decisions, yes, but rich rod has to be pretty happy with a redshirt freshman poised enough to do what he is doing. It is difficult for any team to go into autzen and win.

AZ did beat Nevada by 7 and gave up 40-something points to Cal. Quality team for sure.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostAnother thing to consider that I know sounds ridiculous, but Arizona may actually be a good team. This game, combined with the Oregon/Wazzu game, leave me thinking that Oregon is not very good right now. With no offensive line the offense is not the juggernaut we are used to. Defensively they look pretty bad at linebacker. They were making bad reads, taking bad angles, and missing tackles all night. My takeaway from this is that the result speaks more for Oregon than it does Arizona.

And we might be seeing that the PAC is not that good this year. We can still hold out hope that Utah becomes bowl eligible, leading to a BYU/Utah bowl game.Originally posted by wapiti View PostAZ did beat Nevada by 7 and gave up 40-something points to Cal. Quality team for sure.

They showed absolutely nothing in their 4 games before this one. Non-conference schedule was UNLV, Nevada, and UTSA. They struggled to pull out wins in two of those. And then it took a miracle bowl type finish for them to beat Cal.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI was surprised Arizona was 4-0 and unranked. I guess our 4-0 start was against tougher opponents?
Is anyone going to be upset if Arizona jumps us in the rankings?

No doubt. Big drop-offs at Stanford and Oregon this year. ASU isn't as good. USC has depth problems. The timing is right for UCLA. They have an elite QB and better talent than the rest of the conference. Too bad Texas didn't finish that game.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostAnd we might be seeing that the PAC is not that good this year. It appears that the bottom of the conference is improving while the top is taking a step back. That should lead to parity (or mediocrity) and no playoff berth.

1 of their replacements at tackle appeared, in his profile picture at least, like he was afraid of the cameraman.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostACL in fall camp, 1 starter in opening game, 2 starters in Michigan State game. HFN, I am sincerely sorry for that loss. It is absolutely my fault because I have adopted Oregon as a secondary team to Utah. My bad sports luck has affected them and for that I apologize.
I realize now what I need to do. I need to become a BYU fan. It is for the good of society as a whole. No one wants to see BYU undefeated this year and I may have to convert to prevent it from happening. I'm just not quite sure if I have it in me to sacrifice in that way, but I'm should try.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Fake it til you make it? Because I truly don't know any BYU fans who want BYU to lose. Still, if you're serious about converting, we should start the decompression now.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostHFN, I am sincerely sorry for that loss. I won't sleep until all ALUFs are literally on their hands and knees praying for a BYU loss. The cognitive dissonance is delicious to the taste and very desirable.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostHFN, I am sincerely sorry for that loss. I agree with Wapiti: UNLV, Nevada, Cal, etc. are not the types of wins that should impress anybody.Originally posted by wapiti View PostThey showed absolutely nothing in their 4 games before this one. They literally didn't cover the wheel route one time all night. My 11 year old is depressed.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThat was a rough one. After the Wazzu game it was hard to say this was going to be a playoff team with a suspect D and a patchwork OL. I thought Marcus might be enough to get us there on his own. It wasn't meant to be. Frustrating to miss on 3 chances with what is likely the best player that will ever play for Oregon.
Plays that seem to work against Oregon are RB dive, RB zone and any wheel route. Also any play when it is 3rd and longer than 7.
Lots of bad calls both ways, I'm not going to lie the celebration penalty was a tough one to swallow.Dyslexics are teople poo...

I would say UVA definitely better than any of those. Texas, maybe. So I guess we did deserve to be ranked ahead of Arizona. However, I think U of A jumps us this week. Especially since we will only beat USU by 14 points or less.Originally posted by Applejack View PostI agree with Wapiti: UNLV, Nevada, Cal, etc. are not the types of wins that should impress anybody.

Alabama more so than FSU. By my count, teams that have gone undefeated and untied over the past 50 years. Bold years indicate #1 final ranking in either AP or UPI/Coaches Poll. An * indicates the team did not play in a Bowl game because of probation.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postand uh, outside of a few collective seasons ever, Alabama and Florida state do "this" every year. That is why BYUs national championship is so impressive, and, to a lesser extent, utah being invited to play In a new bowl game twice.
