      • And Jay Drew is such an asshole, why would you report that kind of stuff anyways, no matter who it's about.

          • Why does anyone go there? They underachieve every year. They never win their conference. They are little bro to USC in that market. It's just befuddling to me.

Dad wanted that. He stays close to him and goes where his dad told him would be great. Not that surprising.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Have you ever been to LA? It's no Provo, but it's pretty nice.

                • I like Mendenhall as a head coach because I shared his disdain for fans. But for a HC that attitude can limit success. I never believed that Mendenhall was a good recruiter but given the dynamics and limitations of BYU it seemed to me that one could never really know why the top tier kids went elsewhere. Was it Mendenhall's "social awkwardness" or the fact that BYU just cannot offer opportunities/amenities that other programs can? At the same time one often wondered if the many next tier kids he did land were due to him or the nature of BYU being wanted by LDS kids because they want a four year youth conference experience. This first year for Sitake seems to me to be very similar to BYU's good years under Mendenhall. BYU lost the mormon gem of the class to UCLA but landed many of the next tier kids available. I tend to think that Sitake will do better over the long haul with recruiting - especially with the Poly top tier kids. He is 0-1 so far but other than Matangi Tonga and Bronson Kaufusi Mendenhall didn't land too many himself.

I do think that Sitake will get more NFL caliber prospects for the DL.

Of the kids BYU has signed this year who is expected to play next year and who is expected to be mission bound?

Juarez is already from California, so he already suffers that insufferable place. However, Army brat you should know better that it is a crappy place. Yes you went to high school there, but then you repented.

Provo has to be in the top 4,000,000 places in the world, for sure ranks ahead of Portland.

I like the seasons. I just don't think they're anything all that special. They underachieve.

Wayne is coming your way. Kind of surreal to me that a kid who grew up in this tiny speck has developed into an elite level college football prospect. I was hoping BYU could hold him with the early commit, but in this day and age it is just too hard to keep elite talent undiscovered. I feel vindicated because I recall the looks many gave me when I prophesied of his greatness and glory while watching him play hoops as an 8th grade kid. I believed then he likely genuinely possessed elite level athleticism for a kid that big.
