Clickbait. Yuck. I hate when they don't just put this stuff on a few pages.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
Is this our very own Seldom Seen Smith lamenting the media's disparate treatment of Whit and Bronco?
Actually I don't think the BJ hire was a bad decision.
What I don't understand is why Bronco gets a pass for dumping Anae to bring in Doman only to dump Doman to re-hire Anae two years later. That was a much bigger fiasco than Whit hiring BJ but the local media hacks give Bronco a pass for that. Odd how they treat the two coaches differently.

I keep hearing on the radio that the Utes are much improved and could still go 4-8 because of the schedule. There seems to be a consensus that the Utes are improving but just not as fast as the rest of the conference. HOGWASH.
The Utes went 4-5 in 2011, 3-6 in 2012, and 2-7 in 2013 in the PAC 12. How can anyone look at that objectively and see improvement?
In 2013, with a bowl game on the line the Utes lost to 6-6 Washington State. Most MWC Utah teams would have won that game. Washington State lost to 8-5 Colorado State in the bowl game.
It remains to be seen whether the 2014 Utes show improvement. But to say they are improving every year is turning a blind eye to reality.

I don't know if the Utes are "improving" relative to where they would be if they were still in the MWC. What their travails may be showing is that the recruiting base for the Utes is too narrow for them to compete in a P5 conference. Whit and his staff are not incompetent, but they lack the necessary depth to compete week-in and week-out.
The Arizona schools have not dominated and have rarely won anything in the PAC 12 outside of basketball, with a much broader recruiting pool.

In their defense, Utah's schedule has gotten harder each year. That 2011 schedule was weak. I hear from their fans that they finally have PAC-12 depth at most positions. I guess we'll see. I do think they have a decent chance of winning 6 games or more this season simply because they don't play BYU. Whit over prepares for BYU to the detriment of other games. Since utah has been in the pac-12, they have lost the game before and the game after playing BYU. Three straight years. Whit doesn't have to be all consumed this year.

That's a poor excuse. Too narrow of a recruiting base? How is Oregon competing in the PAC-12? For that matter, how is Nebraska competing in the Big Ten? Utah (and BYU) have to recruit nationally just like almost every other school.

Oregon recruits nationally with Nike's money, Oregon is larger and has benefited from being in the Pac 12 and its predecessors for many years, and got lucky with a few very good coaches. Oregon doesn't really have to fend off Oregon State as much as Utah must fend off BYU.
Nebraska is the only game in miles and miles and developed a reputation by feasting upon a bunch of no-names until the Big 12 got started. Nebraska is not doing that great in the BIG.

I just don't believe that.
Their recruiting classes have gotten worse with each passing year. A lot of kids were excited initially and you saw a jump, but they've regressed.

Don't forget year one; a bowl ineligible USC, a game at home against their bitter yet mortally wounded rivals, a chance to go as the lamb to the slaughter in the inaugural PAC 12 championship game and they couldn't run, pass, or kick straight. I took no great pleasure by being in attendance, none I tell ya.
That said, if not for a massive failure by coaches to find a decent qb, the Utes record would not be as dismal.

Good point, Doug. The year Utah entered the PAC12, they beat BYU by 44 points; in the two victories since, they've merely outplayed BYU, rather than absolutely destroying them. Definitely regressing.
I'm surprised applejack has time to post. I would assume he would be camping out with all the other ute fans to get the best seats for the idaho state game.
