    Gotta beat Utah first.

      That won't happen until Saturday.

Monte Carlo fallacy. The fact that Oregon lost to Arizona earlier this year doesn't make it more likely that they will beat Arizona next time because "no way they lose twice." It's just one game, not two games.

What is your take on the game, HuskyFN? I've only watched Oregon against Michigan State - they looked like National Champs.

What I'm really asking is, "Is it possible for Oregon to lose if it gives up less than 50 yards passing?"

Oregon's offense is rolling right now, despite the perception of being a finesse offense the Ducks are a between the tackles running team. Everything else they do starts with the ability to control the LOS and cause the defense to react to that and then take over with speed outside. Utah's D was very good stopping ASU last week doing this, if they can bottle Oregon up and force them to get anxious or give up on the run that is a win.

On defense Oregon has been a cover 1 press man coverage team since I've been here 15 years. This year with the new DC they've played more cover 3 than anything else. The result against passing teams has been that they move the ball in huge chunks and score. I'm not sure it is possible to win if they only pass for 50 yards, but I would've said that about Utah's games against ASU and OSU too.

If Utah can hold Oregon to less than 21 they can win, I'm not convinced Utah can score 40+ points to win in a shoutout, I do think Utah's D can stop Oregon enough times to give the offense a chance, like the SC game.

I am convinced that they cannot score 40+ points. Perhaps you meant 40+ over the remaining games of the season, that is certainly possible.

I think Utah needs a couple of things to go its way to win: (a) a special teams and/or defensive touchdown (necessary in wins against USC, Michigan, and UCLA - almost had one against ASU that would have sealed the game); (b) good games from our dinged up D (Norris, G Paul, and Rowe are all nursing something or other - they need to play); (c) at least a semblance of protection on passing plays. I think the biggest weakness on this Utah team is pass blocking. They can run block, but in drop back situations, Wilson has no time to check down. It's the first read or a sack.

It would also be great if Mariota coughed up a fumble or two as well.

The emphasis is "right now" and I agree that the Big 12 and B1G are shut out. But there's a lot of football to be played yet. Will be interesting to watch the SEC West unfold. Miss St plays Bama and Ole Miss. Bama plays Miss St. and Auburn. Auburn plays Georgia and Bama. If there are two 1-loss teams in the SEC West then they both probably get playoff invites and the Big 12 and B1G are shut out. If Miss St. continues undefeated and Auburn loses again then the playoff door is open for the Big 12 or B1G champ.

That's at least within the realm of possibility. He's also discussing Utah scoring 40+.

Please answer my previous question: are you attending the game? The answer is quite relevant to this entire discussion.

Utah is going to get effing boat raced by Oregon. They are by far the worst 6-2 team in the country and they are about to get exposed.

Which game? There are several on Saturday, including the BYU men's basketball exhibition game against Seattle Pacific.

DDD, will you be there? With a CougJunkie prediction of destruction and a DDD visit to Rice Ecc, I'd be feeling a lot better about the game than I was 10 minutes ago.
