Although I'm not a big fan of Oregon State, Corvallis is quite a nice town and would be a great place to live.

Still the expectations at Oregon St. are not as great as at Wisconsin. Not sure if that's even among Anderson's reasons for taking the Oregon St. gig.
In addition to having strong local ties, Riley's contract ran through 2021 or so and Oregon State couldn't afford to buy it out (so I am told). My Oregon State friends are ecstatic to have Andersen coming to Corvallis. One of these friends initially said he wanted Bronco to be hired.

Basically anywhere in the P12 North is better than anywhere in the B10, until they include Dayton.

Hey, not so fast there. Dayton is securely in the Big Ten footprint. And not only can the Big Ten claim Dayton, they can also claim New Jersey with the addition of Rutgers.

          • Some rumors that Bevell could be interested in the Wiscy gig.

NO! He's not interested in college coaching, damn it!

I know most BYU fans are hot for Andy Reid on the sidelines, but Bevell would be Bronco's successor if I had things my way.

With the Wisconsin head-coaching gig finally open, here’s a name to watch as the Badgers start the process of replacing him: Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Folks with a finger on the pulse of such issues have flagged Bevell as a viable candidate. And for good reason; Bevell played quarterback at Wisconsin in the 1990s. His coach at the time was the guy who’ll hire the next coach, A.D. Barry Alvarez.

Bevell has served as the offensive coordinator in Seattle since 2011. Before that, Bevell worked as offensive coordinator with the Vikings. Before that, Bevell was an assistant with the Packers.

Bevell has gotten consideration for NFL head-coaching jobs, but no one has been sufficiently interested to refrain from hiring a coach until Bevell’s season with the Seahawks has ended. With Seattle poised for what appears to be another run deep into the postseason, his best chance to get a head coaching job could be to jump to college football.

                • This could be good. Let him go there and get his feet wet. By that time, the Big 10 will have devolved enough to make a seemingly lateral move to BYU a step up.

                    • Bevills sister in my ward. That is the only college job he would take. However Pete Carroll has told him if he wants an NFL head coaching job he needs to take one in the NFL first. Bevill feels like he is an NFL guy first and foremost.

Also interesting the coaches that Oregon state interviewed. Pretty clear who the top choice would be:

Wisconsin head coach Andersen, Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin, Utah State coach Matt Wells, Hawaii coach Norm Chow and San Diego defensive line coach Osia Lewis.

They lucked out to get Andersen. That is not a very exciting group of names.
