Maybe this happens in this state and amongst BYU fans more than most.

I have several friends who are die hard Ute fans. Their kids went or are going to BYU and the kids growing up Ute fans are still Ute fans. Of course there are the LDS folks who graduated from other Universities who are BYU fans.

Best called series of the year by far. Boise was off balance and on their heels the entire drive. The OL opened a hole for Taysom that Victor Unga could have ran through.
Despite having to recover from one of the many low snaps.

Can we stipulate now and forever that all fanbases have assholes so that we don't have to trot out that tired old line ever again?

Each fanbase has its own set of unique characteristics. Boise State went from zero to outstanding so rapidly that it generated a fanbase with an extremely high percentage of bandwagon fans and folks who are entirely new to the world of big-time collegiate athletics. They are the Beverly Hillbillies of college football.

Absolutely, I'm one of them. However, I never jumped in to a student section of a school I attended wearing opposing team gear.

          • I was not offended by anything Boise State or its fans did on Friday night. In fact, they were perfect guests....the team graciously allowed BYU to pummel them on national television, being embarrassed to a humiliating degree, while the fans for the most part sat in dead silence, dumbfounded and frustrated by the Broncos' inability to accomplish much of anything.

I wish more teams and fans were like Boise and Texas, frankly. Something about orange, I guess. When can we play Tennessee and Clemson?

            • My experience Friday night: Great group of BSU fans around us. All families, and all appeared to be cut from the same garment cloth as BYU fans. Cheered loudly and proudly, applauded vigorously when Sorenson was walked off, were especially loud when their running back got the ball (he was great btw).

The fans upon exiting were not as gracious (profanity-laced tirades) but I'm sure BYU fans were not being gracious winners either. Had a guy flip me off right in my face when I made a simple comment (to my friends) that I thought BSU's best days were behind them. Eh, whatever.

              • I am glad the truck driving gap toothed yokels got beat down and embarrassed. Their fans too.

Sports loyalties are not tough to make sense of. You cheer for the school you attend.

So I shouldn't be berated for cheering for both USU and Utah when they don't play BYU.

I can't tell if you cheer for the Cougars anymore anyway with all the schedule complaining.

Whoops. Another student of BYU71's posts.

I just don't understand you guys. So if someone I love is not accomplishing all I think they can, I should keep my mouth shut because pointing out they could do better means I am not cheering for them?

Just about everyone of you on here, including you have bitched about something the team did or a player did, so I should assume you don't cheer for the team?

The problem isn't me compalining about the schedule, the problem is how wussie some of you are and how you get your feelings hurt when "someone else" disagree's with you about your team.

However, feel free along with the others give me the "not true" fan. I don't know how I manage to live with the label, but I do.

He has a point, Utah does in fact play a better schedule year in and year out!

How does BYU schedule better under their current circumstances? What can BYU legitimately do to change its current circumstances?
