Taysom was 5-9 passing in the 2nd half.

I was just about to look that up. Taysom's passing was notably more accurate in the second half. And if Apo catches that slant (that was 2nd half, right?) he's 6-9.

I know it's not ideal for BYU fans back East or for those attending the game, but as citizen of the Pacific time zone, I love when BYU plays in late games. With multiple kids now playing sports, Saturdays are freaking nuts for our family. It's always nice to get all that stuff out of the way and watch the game in real time.

That is a good point. I get a full Saturday with the fam and credit for time served before I head out for the night. It is a pain to get home at midnight but since most Ute fans will be leaving by third quarter, traffic should be pretty light.

Thompson in the slot is not helping Hills completion %. He has dropped 4 out of 5 targets, if I remember correctly, and those balls were on point.

i actually like a lot of the royal gear currently at the book store. if everyone didn't already have the "royal, strong, and true" nike shirt i'd definitely get it.

I am glad they are bringing back the royal blue and agreed that some of it is pretty solid.

There is a royal blue hoodie at the bookstore that I have been seeking but cannot find in my size. Looks like I have an important project to keep me focused for the next 2 weeks!

And if you look at the incompletions overall, there were a few drops (ball was behind, but still should have been caught), at least two throw aways because of pressure, and one time he got hit on the release. It wasn't great passing to be sure, but better than the numbers.

BYU also had 9 drops against UVA. 22-40 is a lot more respectable.

I've been way too optimistic way too many times in the past to be overly optimistic now.

Utah hasn't done anything to make me think that they are incapable. They didn't look awesome during the entire USU game, but they seemed to put some things together as the game wore on. And let's be honest - Chuckie completed some passes that he had no business completing to extend drives with first downs. Passes that only Hoffman have demonstrated any ability to make from BYU's team (and Hill hasn't exactly demonstrated the ability to make the throws...)

All offseason the talk has been about how Utah is down and struggling and BYU has a chance this year. Well...other than from some of the media guys who have picked both to have similar records.

I guess I'm just saying that I'd love to see a good 'ole fashioned butt-kicking. The players seem to be saying the right things about wanting to deliver one. And I think if they play well and everything goes right they have the ability to do so. But I also think that if they revert to their Virginia selves, they have the ability to get their butts kicked too.

So I'll wait until after the game to do too much talking. And I'll try to remain optimistic that we won't have some dumb slogan related to a 4th and _____ conversion that was required at the end of the game in order to win. It would be nice to see a reenactment of the 1996 game - Taysom can go ahead and take the role of either Jenkins or McKenzie...I don't care which.

Speaking of dumb slogans...I could live with something like Williams/Hill is still running. But it would be nice if it was referring to the 300 yards of rushing one or the other has throughout the game and not a play in overtime.

Fortunately, I only have sacrament meeting the next day at 11:00. I'm grateful for ward boundary changes.

Wilson looks much improved. It will be interesting to see if BYU can get the same pass rush with just 3 or 4 that they did Saturday. I doubt it. Also someone is going to have to spy Wilson to keep him from breaking off a long run.

That goofy kid isn't going to break off a good run against us. Doing it against Weber is one thing. Doing it against BYU is another. I'm surprised they run him at all.

Why do you doubt it? Their OL looked pretty bad against a weaker USU defense.

I don't think Cody was a 100% last Saturday. He dogged it several times, through out the game. However, in fairness to him he may have realized pretty quickly that the DB covering him had zero interest in participating in the play, if it wasn't a pass to #2. The kid made almost no effort to come up an help on the run.

Another random observation: Dallin Leavitt is nowhere near his listed 5'11", but his ego appears to be a legit 6'6". I noticed him walking from the tunnel, doing his best Ray Lewis impersonation, then I kept an eye on him during the game. If he played more, he would be the odds on favorite for the annual boneheaded personal foul, against Utah.

Last thought: I can't remember the last time I felt as confident about a PR as i do with JD. He is sure-handed, fearless, and deceptively quick.
