  • I worry about Whittingham outcoaching Bronco. He's done it many times in the past. I know that Erickson (who are we kidding if we say Brian Johnson) will make excellent half time adjustments. I guess we will see if Bronco can react to that in the third quarter.

    • The team that wins the turnover battle will win the game. It's really that simple.

That's the point of this new Ogletree post.

Interesting to note that since Bronco has taken over BYU has not had a game where they had a turnover advantage against Utah. Some guys ended in a push, but none where they had an advantage.

You could have gotten the same analysis from me nearly a week earlier. Although it isn't like this is really rocket science.

One of the most admirable things about Whittingham is that Utah teams never lay down against opponents who are roughly their equal and seem to regularly play great second half football.

              • One of the nice things about these two teams playing early in the season is that we get all this bullshit about who has played tougher opponents, who played better against USU and other common opponents, out of the way early and we have a winner for the rest of the season.

Let's face it, both Oregon State's defense and Texas' defense are atrocious. Which defense is worse? Doesn't matter - they both suck.

                • The BYU-haters are out in full force in my office this morning while the Ute fans haven't said boo. By Friday this place will be like dry tinder waiting for a spark.

I think I will light the match.

My department is overwhelmingly anti-BYU and a majority Ute fans.* One of the physicians is a BYU grad and gets assailed by the head nurse on a daily basis. This nurse is an avid Ute fan but follows BYU as close as Utah. He is insufferable but is very effective in getting under the BYU fan skin.

*full disclosure - I work in the University of Utah Hospital system.

Based on? That Texas team looks pretty awesome so far, at least the Beavs are scoring points. I'd bet on Oregon State if they were playing Saturday.

No point in arguing further HFN, he has declared "the truth", and so it is written, so it shall be.

Texas would have beat Eastern Washington.
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

I'm thinking he was...how do you say...submitting a deliberately provocative posting to an online message board poster with the aim of inciting an angry response?

LOL! What did you expect? This reminds me of when my 6 YO broke his arm last year. We went to PCMC to get it casted and he chose the color red (because he thought that it would be a good halloween color since blood is red ). Seemed like every doctor/nurse there was patting me on the back congratulating me on training my son to love the Utes!
