I was wholly unimpressed with the Texas crowd in 2010. our 65K easily matched their 100K.

I was at that one. I didn't think it was loud there either.

That is the loudest I've ever heard LES, barely topping the Miami game. It was like a rock concert, I was screaming to my brother, standing next to me, and we could barely hear one another.

Into the rivalry game already? I hate to add something so perceptive this early, but here goes. Crowton's first year Doman and Staley were racking up great numbers. I remember before the Utah game a friend of mine who played for USU and knew Kyle real well told me Kyle told him they would be able to shut the BYU offense down and if I remember right they pretty much did.

If I didn't think Kyle was excellent at defense, much like Bronco, I wouldn't be to worried about the game. I think Kyle will do something to take the run game away unless Hill steps it up with his passing.

I'm hoping that Bronco will spend some time visiting with Anae over the next week talking about what a defense like Utah's might do to attempt to shut down Hill and the read option play. And I hope that they then work together to come up with some variations/adaptations that will make Utah's defense pay.

I do like the option of the quick throw to the WR outside. And I think that if Utah is able to cover the RB and the QB on the run, chances are they will be leaving someone like Apo or Hoffman in 1 on 1 coverage outside - and both are big enough to roll over a DB and get a few yards before going down (assuming Apo is able to catch it, and Hill doesn't fire it into the dirt or over their heads.)

I can hear everyone just fine, much like most of Saturday.

Loudest since Miami? there were around 6k-10k people missing the entire first half this weekend. The upper endzones hadnt filled in and for some reason the Texas band required around 6 rows of open space in front of them. The average Utah game every other year was louder than the texas game.

Did anyone else notice that the Texas band was much louder than the BYU band? That happens sometimes when you actually send your band to away games.

i wonder if we'll see lasike get a bigger share of the carries against utah. dude reminds me of bryan kariya.

Based on what we have seen so far, Lasike is a bigger running talent than Kariya. BK was Mr. Reliable in all phases of the game, but he had no lateral quickness and nothing like Lasike's upside.

I was responding the Santos post about the Utah game, where Staley tiptoed down the sidelines. That was the loudest game, I've ever attended at LES. Miami was 2nd loudest, and my first game I ever attended in Provo. Other than a few occasions, Saturday's was very mellow, especially over in the CC seats (I do like the chair backs though).

The loudest stadium I've ever been in is Husky stadium (pre-remodel), something about the metal overhang, and near vertical seating made that exceptionally loud. I've been to Autzen, but that was back in the lemon yellow, 4-6 days.

Dude, the Hawks have another game before they play BYU. Let's enjoy a week of "how loud was it" and "what were you wearing" before we get into all the heavy stuff.

No, I did not notice that. Most of us go to watch the game, not evaluate whose band has the stronger performance. But we're not USC fans. So that's probably why.

Their D-line is okay. But it is not what it has been typically. They have no Star. Trevor Reilly is someone you want to hate but just can't. Dude is a gamer. Former walk-on and by far the best player on their defense. Plays both OLB and DE. He tore his ACL last spring and put a brace on it played all last season with it leading the Utes in tackles. He also has an infant daughter battling cancer. And he has a soft spot in my heart because he was a volleyball player in high school (I too played volleyball and DE). He is smart and reads plays well and his length allows him to disrupt many passes. My guess is we go away from wherever he is lined up. But last week we played Texas and they had the #6 rated (NFL draft) DE in Jackson Jeffcoat and #16 in Cedric Reed and our OL dominated them. And they made poor reads all day with our read option. They're not better than Texas. And they don't have anyone on Eli Harold's level that we sat at UVA.

Their OL looks suspect. It didn't look very good at all against Utah State and our front 7 should dominate. It's tough to take anything away from the Weber State game. That was like scrimmage. Wilson was running and throwing all over the place. That should not happen against our defense mostly because I think we can get pressure with Peck, Manu and Bronson.

Second, Utahs backers are not good. Their secondary is not up to par with what they normally put on the field either.

I personally will be shocked if Utahs line handles our front seven.

Whit just called Utahs Dline the best in the Pac12. In fact he said it today after practice. Utahs Dline will always be a strength but you don't lose 3 guys to the nfl and get better.

The backers are very slow and suspect, Jason Whittingham starts which is all you need to know.

Utahs secondary is always solid but I likr our chances of they play cover 1 or cover 0 against us and stack the box. I take my chances with Hoff one on one.
