Recruiting 2014

saw this breakdown of pac recruiting on CB:
http://www.cougarboard.com/board/mes...ml?id=119568141. Stanford
The Stanford class is loaded with outstanding prospects and potential stars that should keep the Cardinal atop the Pac-12. Keller Chryst is the quarterback Stanford wanted. RB Christian McCaffrey has been phenomenal. LB Bobby Okereke was heavily pursued by USC but stuck and LB Joey Alfieri is impressive. Four-star Casey Tucker could be the next offensive line star there. TE Dalton Schultz could see the field early.
Biggest catch: Keller Chryst, QB, Palo Alto, Calif.
Could steal: Solomon Thomas, DE, Coppell, Texas
2. Arizona State
Arizona State's class represents a massive breakthrough. It's the Sun Devils' highest recruiting ranking in history, and the group is not short on headliners. Todd Graham looks to have turned the corner in Tempe, as he beat out plenty of traditional football powers for big-name prospects this season.
Biggest get: Connor Humphreys, DE, Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic
Could steal: Kenyon Frison, OL, West Valley City (Utah) Granger
3. UCLA
While it's not the start-driven haul it pulled in a year again, UCLA's 2014 class is nothing to sneeze at. The Bruins' haul could get even stronger on signing day, as a few players committed elsewhere are still considering making a change. The final visit weekend was a big one in Westwood.
Biggest get: Jaleel Wadood, DB, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
Could steal: Kalen Ballage, RB, Falcon, Colo.
4. Arizona
Arizona's 2014 class looked a lot shinier before five-star defensive Jalen Tabor and three-star cornerback Naijiel Hale broke their verbal commitments, but there's still some lingering star power on the board. The Wildcats' haul is particularly strong at the linebacker and wide receiver positions.
Biggest get: Jordan Poland, OL, La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day
Could steal: None. Arizona appears to be done.
5. Oregon
As if the Ducks needed even more help at the skill positions, Oregon loaded up with outstanding talent at quarterback, running back and wide receiver in this class. Four-star QB Morgan Mahalak, RBs Royce Freeman and Tony James and WR Jalen Brown lead the way. Landing former USC commit Austin Maloata late was a nice pickup.
Biggest catch: Royce Freeman, RB, Imperial, Calif.
Could steal: John Smith, S, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
6. USC
Sanctions and a coaching change held USC back a tad, but the Trojans are still likely to finish the cycle near the top of the conference should the dominos fall correctly on signing day. It all goes to show that when you're USC, you almost can't help but stumble into a decent class. The haul isn't ideal, but it's not a total disaster even by Trojan standards.
Biggest get: Viane Talamaivao, OL, Corona (Calif.) Centennial
Could steal: Adoree' Jackson, ATH , Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra
7. California
The Golden Bears are coming off an incredibly difficult 1-11 season but coach Sonny Dykes and his staff have figured out ways to land some top recruits who could help the turnaround. Four-star linebacker Chandler Leniu had been committed to Washington State. Four-star WR Erik Brown, former UW commit, and RB Tre Watson could be early contributors.
Biggest catch: Erik Brown, WR, Fontana (Calif.) Summit
Could steal: Marcus Griffin, DT, Bellevue, Wash.
8. Oregon State
There should not be a quarterback issue in Corvallis for years to come. Possibly a controversy but the Beavers loaded up with Alabama transfer Luke Del Rio and 2014 recruits Marcus McMaryion and Nick Mitchell at the position. Coach Mike Riley and his staff also did a nice job in Texas and the Midwest landing prospects they believe fit their style.
Biggest catch: Marcus McMaryion, QB, Dinuba, Calif.
Could steal: Kammy Delp, DT, Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch
9. Washington
A new coaching staff from Boise State entered a difficult situation but has thrived majorly in the closing weeks before Signing Day. Four-star QB K.J. Carta-Samuels ended up after being committed to Vanderbilt for months. Darren Gardenhire, Shane Bowman, Naijiel Hale and Jaylen Johnson had been committed elsewhere, too. Not a bad finish for the Huskies.
Biggest catch: K.J. Carta-Samuels, PQB, San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep
Could steal: Budda Baker, Bellevue, Wash.
10. Washington State
The Cougars dealt with some high-profile decommitments in recent months but they rebounded nicely and landed some quality prospects heading into signing day. Former UCLA commit Barry Ware could be special in that offense. RB Squally Canada is an interesting prospect who could thrive under Mike Leach. The coaches love the potential of DE Kingston Fernandez and others.
Biggest catch: Keith Harrington, APB, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Northeast
Could steal: Kaleb McGary, OT, Tacoma (Wash.) Fife
11. Colorado
Landing a four-star prospect is a massive step in the right direction for rebuilding a rebuilding Colorado program that seems to be inching along in the right direction. The Buffs still had trouble with in-state talent but remain active in California.
Biggest get: Shay Fields, WR, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
Could steal: Jay MacIntyre, Louisville (Colo.) Monarch
12. Utah
The Utes missed on some key targets and saw some attrition, but they held on to top in-state prospect Jackson Barton, which is a massive victory for the program. Utah's class also features four prospects from Florida.
Biggest get: Jackson Barton, OL, Salt Lake City Brighton
Could steal: Ula Tolutau. ATH, Salt Lake City EastSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

"@rakoto10: I've been told that Washington is making a very strong, late push to get Fred Warner to sign on Wednesday. Sounds like they're real player."
Also, is this kid a walk on?

Clark might not be a walk-on. I read some article with Bronco where he said BYU might try and grab a quarterback because we need numbers at the spot. Warner better not break my heart.Originally posted by USUC View Post"@rakoto10: I've been told that Washington is making a very strong, late push to get Fred Warner to sign on Wednesday. When is the dead period for recruiting? I thought it started today. So when was Washington making this push?Originally posted by frank ryan View PostClark might not be a walk-on. Quiet period started on Saturday which means you can only talk to recruits on campus. Dead period started Sunday.Originally posted by USUC View PostWhen is the dead period for recruiting? I thought it started today. So when was Washington making this push?
None of these schools have been able to talk to Warner since Thursday of last week as you can not contact a recruit who is tripping to another school.*Banned*

Anyone know about John Clark? I suspect he was a heavily recruited preferred walk-on at the least. Maybe a type of play a yr and then get a scholarship. Bronco had said that with the loss of Olsen they were scrambling to get some quarterbacks into the program but that is was difficult this late in the game.

Sounds a bit similar to John Beck as far as being a late bloomer/not having to wear deodorant until his senior year of HS. He is young but in this highlight looked pretty good to me but what can one tell from a highlight reel? IMO, he will need to grow a bit more as I ain't buying the 6'1" measurable. Also at times looks to me like he has a bit of a sidearm release which is probably not helpful for a kid around 6 feet. But as pointed out, rather prominently, he was just barely made a Priest so he has time to grow, mature, serve a mission and play for BYU in a few years. IMO, I would think a grayshirt year would be in his interests. I assume if he hasn't turned 17 yet he will shortly. So a grayshirt semester kicking it around the team in some aspect followed by a mission at age 18 would have him back at BYU on scholarship in about 2017. He might have armpit hair by then!
I heard a tweet from his coach said he was coming to BYU. I believe it and I could believe a scholarship has been promised in the future but I doubt they use a scholarship on him next year. He has all the lookings a very serious LDS kid who always dreamed of playing/attending BYU so my guess is he will get himself accepted academically because he is the smartest kid to go to BYU since SoonerCoug, serve a mission, play BYU football, quit the mormon church but not quit being mormon and tell stories about all his crazy bishops!Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I wonder about this kid too. There has not been much written about him. I'm guessing he will go to Utah. Hopefully the prospect of playing with his brother will bring him to BYU. I'm doubtful thoughOriginally posted by The_Douger View PostAny word on Nacua?
I'm hoping Jordan Leslie is locked up even though that makes me think Blackman would be headed elsewhere. Leslie is legit and I think has a shot at playing on Sundays.
This is an exciting recruiting season for a change. And despite Hot Lunch's assertions to the contrary this looks like it will end up being a good class, Bronco's best. He need Warner though.

BYU has some serious shuffling of schollies. Martzen has been in Broncos ear about the advantage he has at BYU. He mentioned how Bama oversigns every year, and he wants Bronco to do the same. But instead of cutting guys loose send them on missions or greyshirts before missions.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI wonder about this kid too. There has not been much written about him. Logan Anderson out of Madison looks a lot better than this kid. Idaho 5A player of the year in 2012. Ran high 10's in the 100m, star basketball player and a good golfer. I'm really not sure why colleges didn't come after this kid harder. If he puts on about thirty pounds and keeps his speed he may be an option for BYU in 2015 after his mission is over.
