Interesting that none of them run at the pace that Oregon and Arizona do.

I'd rather have a 370 lb lineman who can play than a 295 OL who is a POS.
I don't follow recruiting closely, but it doesn't seem like BYU has a bunch 4-5 star, 280-320 lb guys beating down it's doors.
Yes, it's always a good idea to recruit square pegs for your schematic round holes.

I would bet that byu does not run at that pace either.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostInteresting that none of them run at the pace that Oregon and Arizona do."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

And that may be Indy's underlying point. That despite Anae's or fans expectations, BYU will not be running at that pace, hence the reason they are going after a 370 lb OL.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostI would bet that byu does not run at that pace either.I'm like LeBron James.

I don't care if the OL weighs 250 or 350. If he is that highly rated and sought after and BYU is in the mix then we should do what we can to land him. I don't care if he doesn't fit a certain scheme or not. We're worrying about a square peg in a round hole and we have yet to see a single down of this new offense. Besides, if he is a player, he is a player and any coach worth their weight can find a place for him. Like CJ said, NT seems like a viable fallback for someone like him. It is ridiculous that BYU should say no thanks to a kid with offers from every school that has been in the top 25 the last 5 years."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Thankfully, this is all a theoretical exercise, because there's no way in hell Mama is coming to BYU.

I would assume that even if that's the goal it would take them a while a work up to that pace. I would also expect a lot of early time outs and confused QBs. I'm surprised that Bronco is on board with this, frankly, since an Oregon-speed offense tends to make good defenses look bad (by regular metrics, which is still what most people pay attention to). Maybe not, but it seems like defensive HCs don't have speedy offenses as often.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI'll wager they do. Why do you doubt? The coordinator is certainly committed to it. What will stop them if he is calling the shots?
