I agree we need what you also identified but in light of the fact the Oline won't be much better, we will need receivers to get open more quickly to compensate for lack of protection.
A lot of people think Beck was our best QB over the past decade or more. I think the O-line may improve a little faster than you think, but the point I'm making is that we don't need and will likely rarely have 2 top tier receivers in the same class, or even on the team at the same time. But that's fine, as long as we have a solid 2nd option, a solid TE, solid catching from the RB position, which is what we've had in the recent successful years. If Kurtz works out as a top tier guy, then I'm not worried nearly as much about a 2nd guy in the same class.

And does the receivers getting open more quickly really solve the problem? I'd suspect that Taysom moving through his reads faster and delivering the ball on target on the short routes would be more beneficial.

I want it all. I want better protection, Taysom moving through his reads more quickly and better receivers to increase YAC.

Seriously. Burton's version was an abomination in comparison with the original.

Each had its virtues but Burton's had a certain genius to it.

For the record I think Burton has lost it and although more accurate to the book, not as endearing as the original movie.

Oh brother. Burton stopped exhibiting much, if any, genius 20 years ago. His genius has been reduced to schtick. It's a tired schtick, yet he can't seem to break away from it.

I wonder if BYU is content on recruiting Utah, California, NW and Idaho. For example, take a couple of the states that are high producers of prep football talent: California and Texas. Percentage wise, there are over twice as many recruits from CA as the BYU student body. However, for Texas its about the same. How is it that Nebraska can land recruits from many more states than BYU when BYU is a national university and Nebraska is not? IOW, BYU's ESPN deal is giving BYU football greater visibility across the nation and it already has a national student body. But it appears BYU is mostly recruiting locally.

CO is an intermountain West state, so already listed. I missed HI, but you could throw it in there as well. TX probably has a good chuck on Mos, and the team always seems well represented with Texans. All the others states the Mormon population base is probably much less than out west. Point being, our recruiting base will always be mostly limited to states with high populations of Mormons. The more Mos, the more likelihood there's a D1 football player in there.

I knew I recognized Devon Blackmon's name, he flamed out in the Eug and last I heard wanted to bark with Sark in Seattle. Hey some guys like 7 win seasons. What happened after that? He can't have more than 1-2 years left to play.
