Grimes is a devout born again and it might have bugged him to be at BYU. I know he had a good experience but he DID leave after a year. He was an awesome coach and I wish he were back, but I dont think so.

He was here 3 years. 04-06. Those were some talented BYU OLs with a slew of them hanging around the NFL in some capacity for a few years. Feinga, Young, Reynolds, Kuressa etc. I am sure being at BYU bugged him, but right now BYU's needs for a good OL coach trump my concerns about whether or not he wants to be at BYU.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostGrimes is a devout born again and it might have bugged him to be at BYU. Grimes would get a heroes' welcome. Crowton would be facing some headwinds with the fans; can you imagine the first time he failed on a fourth-down conversion? I wonder how Mike Leach would do as an OC."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone
"What choice?" - Abe Petrovsky

You might be right. My question is, if not Doman, who? Crowton is at least a conceivable option.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostBecause his offense is predictable and crappy.
The fans are unhappy with what we have now, and it would be more of the same. No identity, retarded option plays, stupid diamond formation WR garbage.
The fans were pleased with the Doman hire. I think fans are smart enought to spot a problem, just not how to fix it. AS I have said over and over, fixing it requires a proven quantity. Who is out there that fits that criteria and BYU actually would have a prayer of hiring?

Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Yep, I just don't think a proven coach is going to want to come in and coach with Bronco. Chad Lewis, Mr. rah, rah, that isn't meant to be negative as he is positive about everything, would probably love to coach with Bronco. Again though an unproven on the job training would have to be done.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostLemme see...Robert Anae? Wait, that ship has sailed.

Is it Bronco or someone else? Doman? I only say this because Bronco had good things going staff wise for several years. Just the last couple that we seem to have had a lot of "issues".Originally posted by byu71 View PostYep, I just don't think a proven coach is going to want to come in and coach with Bronco. Robert Anae was competent (more than that, he was good at his job( and I'm not sure if Crowton is even that. I don't think we would want Crowton anywhere near BYU again.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostI see Crowton in a similar situation. Here's an idea. Up the pay to be competitive and hire someone who isn't LDS. That would expand the field.Part of it is based on academic grounds. The most recent athletic revenue study I saw had BYU 67th in annual revenues.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostHere's an idea. Up the pay to be competitive and hire someone who isn't LDS. That would expand the field.
