      I find this all hilarious.

Grimes is a proven commodity, we were a stepping stone for him. If he didn't like it here as KL has suggested it was likely because of his religious beliefs and the fact that he played for UTEP (remember how much they liked us?). Grimes will find a job at a good university and make lots of money doing it. Let's not forget that Texas wanted him so bad they were willing to pay him an unprecedented salary.

Crowton returning to BYU as an assistant would be like Matt Doherty returning to UNC as an assistant. It ain't happenin'. The boosters wouldn't have it, the fans wouldn't, and I don't think Bronco would either. Frankly, I'm surprised Gary is still coaching, given his dismissal at both LSU and then Maryland.

I would be curious to see salaries as a percentage of revenues. Bielema's big complaint with Wisconsin, for example, was that he couldn't retain any good assistants because the school wouldn't pay what they could get elsewhere. I imagine Wisconsin isn't a bottom-half school w/r/t revenues.

This is as of 2008, but Wisconsin was 8th and BYU 67th.

LSU set a school scoring record with Crowton as OC. He also led the nation in scoring at both Louisiana Tech and BYU.

I'll keep that in my did you know fact file.

I'm still surprised he's coaching, given the body of his work.

and then his offense got worse and he got fired. then he sucked at maryland and got fired. His offense sucked at BYU after year 1. Hmm, I sense a pattern.

Not sure his time at Maryland should be held against him.

Fine, take it out. The fact of the matter is we tried Crowton at OC and it was great one year and then sucked for 3 years. Why anyone would want him again is beyond me.

How should we count it, then?. They did better this year, even after they lost all of their quarterbacks and had to start a linebacker.

It was a bad situation, Crowton's presence didn't make it better.

I will go back and look, but did the offense really stink that bad?

Indy, what was Crowton's offense ranked his last 3 years vs the current last 3 years?

                              Better, meaning 2 more wins?

They scored more points (marginal but still more) under Crowton. They threw for more yards under Crowton. And despite the 5 QBs that played this year they all had better QBRs than Danny O'Brien did last year. Plus GC had over 2000 yards rushing offense. This year they fell way short of it. 800 yards short.

It wasn't a good fit and Edsall is a lousy coach.

Danny O'Brien flamed out almost immediately at Wisconsin this year too.
