Will this hurt or help his chances at his ultimate goal of becoming a GA someday? The added wealth certainly wouldn't hurt. If the church doesn't have to pay him the normal $600k salary, I'm sure he would look that much more attractive.

Yeah but will Bronco still want the complimentary Toyota Avalon?Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostWill this hurt or help his chances at his ultimate goal of becoming a GA someday? The best thing for Bronco about being a GA is that nobody boos during General Conference.

winner, winner, chicken dinner. I would not be surprised if Bronco is setting up shop in Boulder. $how me the money!Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostYep, he could run his kind of program at a place starving for intensity/consistency, make a bunch of $$$ for 4-5 years, meet/exceed low expectations, and ride off into the sunset telling tales of booing BYU fans.I'm your huckleberry.

Nah. If this happened--a BIG if--its all about getting BYU to show a little love.Originally posted by FN Phat View Postwinner, winner, chicken dinner. I would not be surprised if Bronco is setting up shop in Boulder. $how me the money!
Though if Bronco is really planning on leaving next year (I doubt that too) I maybe wish he'd just leave now.I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

Bronco goes to the beat of his own drummer. This means that it is damn near impossible to predict what he is likely to do. I also think it means that he doesn't really want to be at a place that doesn't have something unique about it. That is not to say I don't think he could be successful elsewhere, just that I think that Bronco in his present incarnation gets fired up about being special.
I also think he likes raising his kids around grandparents, cousins and on the family horse ranch.
He ain't going anywhere and right now his stock is not real high. I hope he gets it high again, but right now would not be a good time for him to jump ship because it wouldn't be a good ship he could jump to.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Bronco bashers are idiots. I know emotionally you are frustrated with 7-5 season that should have been 12-0...Yes! Bronco has made mistakes but he is a good coach and will get BYU to a BCS game soon.
For some reason the expectations are through the roof. (Combo of our rival getting to two BCS games and them going to PAC12)
Broncos 2012 BYU team has been in EVERY game with a chance to win in all but one game (OSU) they could easily be 11-1.
BYU has a great head coach who ran into the Riley Nelson/Jake Heaps Buzz saw drama. I want to see what he does with a clean slate.
Most Bronco haters will be swallowing their words in the next few years.( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

I don't know if he is a great coach but he is definitely good. But in the end it is all semantics these days. I am not sure what mistakes he made or why he made them, but I believe he made a few. Well to be honest I am convinced firing Robert Anae was a big mistake but other than that things just might have been that the decisions were the best possible options given the circumstances.Originally posted by Y84it View PostBronco bashers are idiots. However, I spent some time on Cougarboard and there are some real morons out there. I feel as strongly about the stupidity of people who genuinely want Bronco gone as the HC at BYU as I did about the stupidity of people who could not see that Gary Crowton was just a bad head coach. Bronco is a good head coach and while I am not convinced he could get BYU to a BCS game it is emotional suicide to take the approach that that is the only acceptable ceiling. But then again I wondered what people unhappy through 2009 could legitimately want from BYU. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the negativity around the program. If he doesn't get to a bowl game next year it will explode.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I have no idea what Bronco will do. I will find it interesting though to see what he does if he actually gets a "real" offer from a BCS team. Even a program as shitty as Colorado's.
If one believes his "public" personna he has put out there since becoming HC at BYU, no way in hades he leaves.
