You actually hear about it all the time. In fact that is what happened to Dan Hawkins, isn't it?Originally posted by Jacob View PostYou don't often hear about coaches leaving a good job for a worse one. But it's possible, I suppose.
However, since the question asked whether I would leave BYU for Colorado, Absolutely Not seems much too mild of a response.
It's humorous that people think he would consider it. But, the love of money...etc

Taking a job at CU would be an easy way to get out of the mess he's put himself in in Provo. In the blink of an eye he could get out from under the QB situation, independence, The Quest, Anae/Doman situation, etc..."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Yep, he could run his kind of program at a place starving for intensity/consistency, make a bunch of $$$ for 4-5 years, meet/exceed low expectations, and ride off into the sunset telling tales of booing BYU fans.Originally posted by Moliere View PostTaking a job at CU would be an easy way to get out of the mess he's put himself in in Provo. Smart coaches interview for other jobs now and then, just to keep upward pressure on the salary at the current job.
Then again, he has said several times that he didn't see himself at BYU long term."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Original guy tweeting this is apparently a BYU fan from Boulder who is an adjunct instructor at CU. Supposedly the interview happened in Utah, not Colorado."Sure, I fought. When I first heard of this rumor... it was easily dismissed.
BYU has the advantage, better facilities, better personnel and recruits, better recent history of success, etc.
However, What I think CU is mostly looking for is a guy with a proven record of turning a program around, and in the right direction.
Bronco has this. He also has an administration at CU that might now be ready to step up with some new facilities including an expensive new indoor practice facility.
Bronco would have a whole new identity to recruit to. CU is a beautiful campus, the program has a long and proud history, and he would make a great rival for Utah... Hell, the hate is already there.
I don't know... this doesn't seem as unlikely to me anymore.
2.5 Million is a significant number, and if he has success turning CU around... which I suspect he could... He would have a nice stage to stand on and thumb his nose at some BYU fans."We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and that he is best who is trained in the severest school."

I read Allbuffs quite a bit.Originally posted by Moliere View PostCU is offering $2.5 million to Bronco? Link?
I grew up in Colorado and my dad had CU season tickets for years. (When they were good)
This is the figure the fan-base there believes CU will pay as a ceiling. I would have to search through all the threads to see where that number originated... and I'm not gonna do that... but they are commonly referring to that number now."We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and that he is best who is trained in the severest school."
