It's humorous that people think he would consider it. But, the love of money...etc
You actually hear about it all the time. In fact that is what happened to Dan Hawkins, isn't it?

Taking a job at CU would be an easy way to get out of the mess he's put himself in in Provo. In the blink of an eye he could get out from under the QB situation, independence, The Quest, Anae/Doman situation, etc...

Yep, he could run his kind of program at a place starving for intensity/consistency, make a bunch of $$$ for 4-5 years, meet/exceed low expectations, and ride off into the sunset telling tales of booing BYU fans.

Smart coaches interview for other jobs now and then, just to keep upward pressure on the salary at the current job.

Then again, he has said several times that he didn't see himself at BYU long term.

Original guy tweeting this is apparently a BYU fan from Boulder who is an adjunct instructor at CU. Supposedly the interview happened in Utah, not Colorado.

When I first heard of this rumor... it was easily dismissed.

BYU has the advantage, better facilities, better personnel and recruits, better recent history of success, etc.

However, What I think CU is mostly looking for is a guy with a proven record of turning a program around, and in the right direction.

Bronco has this. He also has an administration at CU that might now be ready to step up with some new facilities including an expensive new indoor practice facility.

Bronco would have a whole new identity to recruit to. CU is a beautiful campus, the program has a long and proud history, and he would make a great rival for Utah... Hell, the hate is already there.

I don't know... this doesn't seem as unlikely to me anymore.

2.5 Million is a significant number, and if he has success turning CU around... which I suspect he could... He would have a nice stage to stand on and thumb his nose at some BYU fans.

Bronco would be crazy not to get a fresh start and double his money.

BYU will be scrambling, but the incoming coach would still benefit from the work Bronco did. BYU isn't at ground zero and with a good coordinators there is enough talent to be competitive, just not next season.

CU is offering $2.5 million to Bronco? Link?

I read Allbuffs quite a bit.

I grew up in Colorado and my dad had CU season tickets for years. (When they were good)

This is the figure the fan-base there believes CU will pay as a ceiling. I would have to search through all the threads to see where that number originated... and I'm not gonna do that... but they are commonly referring to that number now.

That number isn't shocking at all. Maryland pays a hack like Edsall two million per year. Bronco should take the money. I also think Bronco has lost much of the fan support in Provo. Win win.

I don't think he'll take it, but he has an awful lot of good reasons to do it. I worry that he will.
