Given the OSDS syndrome no coach could. Bronco is a perfect fit for the BYU of today.

This is also why Andy Reid wouldn't touch the job with a 10' pole.

We should give Andy Reid an 11' pole for Christmas.

I watched Lark run against Weber State and he is every bit as fast as Nelson, and stronger.

        • This is depressing.

          I wanted Riley to succeed.
I was excited for Doman and wanted him to succeed.
I admire a lot about Bronco, and wish he would succeed.

But most of all, I want BYU football to succeed.

Although I would agree you need the right people first, those people cannot become preeminent over the organization.

It seems like Bronco forgets how Rudy actually ended up seeing the field and how much playing time he actually saw.

That said, I'm a Bronco fan. I love where he took the program from where he started. He's a really good fit for our program.

Will he be able to get BYU to the next level? I can't say that he can.
The head football coach at BYU is not a paid clergyman nor is the position a calling. Your bishop doesn't know your CUF moniker so it's ok to admit that Bronco is an arrogant, self-righteous, pompous, stubborn, dickhead.

He knows how to coach up the front seven and where his car is parked at 5pm. Other than being keenly aware that he's untouchable, Bronco doesn't know much else.

              • Bronco's a dumbass.

                Lark deserves better.

He should get to start the bowl game while Riley sits and watches, and they should not pull Lark no matter the outcome. riley should just have to watch regardless.

This season has gone a long way in souring my opinion of Bronco. Unless we have a great year next year I don't want to see him on the sidelines ever again. He can take his snarky, disdain of fans and shove it up his stubborn ass. I'm sick of his act. If I hear the football is 5th priority shtick again I just might lose it.

                  • Someone needs to take Bronco's book on Organizational Behavior which preaches accountability and personality responsibility and tell him he is full of shit. If he truly practiced what he wrote in that book there is no way Riley Nelson would have or should have started in the Utah, Boise St, or the 2nd half of the SJSU game.

The guy acts like acts like he has made all the right calls this season but the fact is, not only has he and his coaching staff made the wrong calls, they never learned from their mistakes and have kept doing the same bad decisions over and over again.

Ah yes. I remember those comments from a couple fall camps ago when I was still listening to the Wrubell podcasts. Puzzled me too.

Not to spoil anything but apparently Lark does pretty well.

I agreed w/ your entire post outside of this claim. 2 QB systems rarely work because the coach is typically alternating the QBs because neither QB has proven that they're fully ready for the starting job. In the rare instances when 2 QBs are both capable and ready then effective rotation is possible. ND doesn't have a full blowng "2 QB system" but Tommy Rees has come in and played a critical role at decisive moments for ND this year - he has had significant stat lines against Michigan, Purdue, Stanford, BYU and Pitt - and at some of those points Golston was good to go.

I agree that a 2 QB system is never ideal - and I think the odds are typically against it succeeding. And I think that a system of 2 equal co-starting QBs with similar skill sets is a recipe for disaster. But I think when you have 2 QBs with differing and complimentary skill sets then a 2 QB rotation can be more effective than exclusively playing one QB or the other.
