Going to Las Cruces on a Lark: The Official BYU vs. NMSU thread
Or is this just a really bad NMSU team that is putting eight men in the box?
Lark looks fine and sure I won't argue that he wouldn't have been better than a hurt Riley or even possibly a healthy Riley but one game against NMSU doesn't tell you that.
But yeah if Lark had been given all the reps and experience Riley has had over the last couple of years you've gotta think he would be a whole helluva lot better than Riley ever was.

Dude watch the game, you can't tell me we are seeing from Lark more zip, more accuracy, more pocket presence than Riley Nelson has against air in practice.

Idaho is a decent point of comparison. They beat NMSU but that is their only win. So Lark and Nelson both played full games against the dregs of the WAC.
Riley vs. Idaho: 19/31 236 yds. 3 TD 0 INT
Lark vs. NMSU (so far): 33/49 320 yds. 5 TD 0 IJNT
"It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

Have we gotten to the point with football where people just recite stats and don't even try to give any analysis based on what they see with their eyes?
Riley even when he has good stats was not making throws like Lark did today. He was taking advantage of teams with a slow front 7 and killing them on scramble drills to wide open receivers. Not throwing beautiful strikes in tight windows on a 3-5 step drop.

I understand what you're saying, but Lark is doing exactly what a BYU QB is expected to do against an opponent like this. The only reason the score isn't in the 50s already is because our OL can't get a run game against their 8 in the box.
