I wouldn't rule out the SEC going after Duke over NCSt. The SEC doesn't need another strong football school, Duke delivers the market just as well or better, and Duke provides a huge boost to basketball.
Big 12 then has its choice of FSU, Clemson, Miami, Duke or NCSt, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and Syracuse to get to 16. That will add a ton TV sets to the Big 12 deal and creates a natural East/West split that preserves many of the rivalries. This would be great for the Big 12 in terms of stability and TV money.
Without the Big 12 to raid, the PAC has no choice but to stay put.
BYU's "waiting for the Big 12 to stabilize" was visionary. I know many will say BYU didn't really do that. Maybe they didn't. But when we have the tape in the next life those conversations will be on my review list.

Gah, let's just get it over with already!
Also, when this is all over, there had better be some freaking renaming of conferences. A Big 12 with 16 members too stupid for words.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

If the SEC indeed raids the ACC then it makes a helluva lot more sense to take UNC and Dook (I can't for the life of me understand why so many of you spell that word wrong) as a pair. It pads the SEC schedule in football and gives a huge boost to basketball. Dook basketball also offers a more national audience than State, which has difficulty competing with the other schools in its own market.Originally posted by wapiti View PostI wouldn't rule out the SEC going after Duke over NCSt. The SEC doesn't need another strong football school, Duke delivers the market just as well or better, and Duke provides a huge boost to basketball.

If the ACC is dead all I want is for UNC and Dook to stay together. Most UNC fans only sorta kinda care about NC State, kind of like how most Utah or BYU fans only sorta kinda care about Utah State.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

One thing is for certain. ND pissed off the wrong person and it looks like they may pay dearly for it..
If all this does in fact take place and the ACC goes the way of the Dodo Bird.. Delany has just systematically crippled their "Other Programs" and ND will be left to go find another home. Where?? Who knows..

I assumed UNC would end up in the BIG. I agree that the BIG or SEC should go after the UNC/Dook package but in the new paradigm of one team/market it doesn't make financial sense.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostIf the SEC indeed raids the ACC then it makes a helluva lot more sense to take UNC and Dook (I can't for the life of me understand why so many of you spell that word wrong) as a pair. One thing is certain, ND will be fine. They'll go make the same deal with the Big 12 that they made with the ACC.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostOne thing is for certain. ND pissed off the wrong person and it looks like they may pay dearly for it..

I think both teams deliver a lot more than just their market, especially during basketball season.Originally posted by wapiti View PostI assumed UNC would end up in the BIG. We do not know if the Big 12 would even accept that.. Its one thing to have and eat your cake in ACC or BE. But its another to request that in the Big 12 or Big 1G... I am not so sure the Big 12 would allow that..
Who knows.. But it could get interesting if the ACC does fall...
