I’ve been saying that a good lawyer could drive a truck through that “delegation” by the regents to UCLA’s chancellor. Now the regents’ general counsel agrees with me—it’s up the regents. They can nix the move to the B1G.

“U.C.L.A. has portrayed its proposed move as a leap toward a financial life raft for an athletic department that had been swimming in red ink thanks to a floundering football program, an apparel deal turned sour and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The Los Angeles Times reported in January that U.C.L.A.’s athletic department debt had ballooned to $102.8 million over the last three years.”

And the same idiots who got UCLA into this financial fix are deciding it’s best to go to the B1G. They’re incompetent.

The Pac 12 commissioner also notes that UCLA is making a hypocritical sham of its commitment to fight climate change.

ElonMUSS is exactly right! Ever since the internet (ARPANET) was invented by Stanford, UofUtah, and Cal (well, UC Santa Barbara and UCLA; but still in the same system). Now, we are as one!

I'm going to be honest, I think this really sucks. The history of American football began with intercollegiate competition. There has been relative stability for generations, and now the Pac will be gone, the B10 is a coast-to-coast conference, and the B12 and ACC's days are essentially numbered.

We're heading toward three super conferences, and even if BYU or Utah can make that cut, when it goes to two, I don't really see a path forward for either. Again, kind of shitty.
