  • When does the combine start Wed?

I always thought the NFL should sell the ability to buy individual or a college teams workouts online so that fans can see just the guys they are interested in.

        • There is a strong contingent of personnel types that expect Ziggy Ansah to go in the top 10. Sr Bowl tape has created a lot of buzz.

          • He plays one of the positions that place a premium on a very particular body type and natural talent. If I were to rate the positions by a combination of how important they are on the field combined with how hard it is to find elite prospects, I'd go QB, OT, DE/Pass rushing 3-4 OLB, DT, CB --- WR is next but I think it's much easier to find decent WRs in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as opposed to elite QBs, OTs and DEs. I'd also say that a really great 3-4 DE prospect might slot in between OT and 4-3 DE. Justin Smith and JJ Watts are two of the top 5 most valuable defensive players in the league -- Watts is easily the best and most important defensive player in the league.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

            • 4.63 in the 40 and a 1.56 10-yard split. Supposedly the split time really raised eyebrows. I'm not a combine watcher so I have no idea how good those numbers really are.

4.63 is nearly .2 seconds faster than Manti Teo which might say more about Manti than Ziggy.

4.63 for a dude over 270 is freak. There were only 3 LBs that were faster than Ziggy and they ave weighed about 250.

For a DE, that first 10 yards is the most important, anyway.

That 10-yard split says a lot about Ziggy's explosiveness, which really is a big deal for DL's in their battles against OL.

Manti ran a 6.63? Was he carrying Lennay?

Yes, I only saw one set of footprints on the field.

That one elicited an audible "ha!" from me so job well done.
