Draftniks (non BYU fans) are starting to look at Ziggy as a top 15 pick. Again, these are not blue-goggled BYU fans. These are NFL fans who are following the draft.
You're more comfortable with listing out the stats, ranking players that way, and then going down the list - I get that you're a stats guy.
Don't get me wrong-I think it's important to see how productive guys are - given the circumstances.
But sometimes stats don't tell the whole story. Ziggy is one of those.
Anytime someone that hasn't put up the production gets into the top half of the 1st round of a draft, you simply have to shake your head. That doesn't mean I think that Ziggy doesn't have an NFL future, but high 1st round picks are expected to contribute right away (with QBs as only a partial exception) and I don't see Ziggy as an immediate, high impact player.
2nd round or 3rd round? Probably. 1st round? Doubtful.
I have no idea how good these guy are or are not at projecting draft position and/or NFL success. However, Tackle seems to be someone the other posters on that board respect. Here is what he says about EA:
The more I watch this guy, the more I come away thinking this guy is really ******* good. Just such a complete package and is far more advanced his technique and awareness than a guy with his experience should be. Not trying to be too hyperbolic but I can't help but think that he is cut from the JPP/Aldon cloth and he's likely faster than both. His ceiling is as high or higher than any player, regardless of position in this draft and because of that, I really think there's a good chance that Ziggy establishes himself as one of the elite defensive talents in this draft. If I'm a 4-3 team picking in the top 10 and need a DE, he's on the short list.

Teams are always drafting these types of guys on their potential.
I think Kwame Brown is still getting by on potential in the NBA, a decade in.

Different sport but think Russell Westbrook. Potential over production worked out pretty well for OKC.
Vernon Gholston, Mike Mamula and Courtney Brown are good examples of workout warriors not working out.
I don't recall Vernon at all. Courtney was truly a bust. Mamula was much like the Boz, once the steroid testing became more stringent, in the NFL vs. college, not surprisingly he was pretty mediocre.
It's just not fair that we only got one year to enjoy this kid.
