In a previous life I ran sprints. Just about every sprint workout included working on starts. Getting out of the blocks is crucial in a 100M race so it would be downright essential when running a 40. I didn't run the 100M (I ran the 200M and 400M) so I'm sure he practiced starts like a mad man when on the track team.

For the record, they don't use blocks for the 40 in football drills.

That play is my favorite as well. He destroyed that upback. The upback certainly wasn't expecting that.
