Why would BYU fans be sandbagging under these current circumstances??

I'm with you. Someone here said that if BYU can avoid giving up points to Utah's defense, they will win. I think that's where I'm at right now. I don't see Utah scoring more than about 14 points unless Riley makes some big mistakes.

The biggest problem for Utah is that BYU's 2012 defensive line is not the slowpoke fatties of 2012. They're supposed to be quick and physical. Utah's o-line could not deal with the quickness of USU's d-line. BYU's defensive line is probably as quick as, and more talented than, USU's so it isn't looking good. Our only hope is that BYu's players give up again this year, because everyone knows that is the only reason BYU lost last time.

hold on. maybe you missed my post but I already sent out a proverbial screw you to all of the utes as well as BYU fans that are sandbagging and shellshocked. enough was enough. pathetic. these fans are the same people that are going camping or whatever the heck else they are doing instead of watching or attending the game. Bluegoose is going dancing or something like that, for crying out. wtf? screw all of them.

The last time the situation was set up this ideally for BYU heading into the Holy War was 2005. Utah's starting QB tore his ACL the week before in a pretty inexcusable home loss to New Mexico. Utah was sitting at 5-6, and Whit was on the hot seat. A loss to BYU meant bowl ineligibility in the very first season after a Fiesta Bowl appearance under Kyrban Mittingham. We all know how well that turned out.

I have attended four Holy War games in my lifetime: 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2011. Personally, I think I have good reason to sandbag. Until I see Bronco treat this game like it's not just any other game, I'll continue to be skeptical of predictions of a dominant BYU victory.

I think you could argue that offense and QBs aren't the most important thing to Whit.

Can't win games with a defense only, Coach Whit. Gotta recruit QBs and O-linemen and maybe hire offensive coordinators that have some kind of a resume and experience.

I agree that Bronco is less than inspiring going into a "big" game, but we don't need a dominant victory. 33-31 isn't dominant. 4th and 18 wasnt a dominant victory. Harline is Open wasnt a dominant victory. Klankeshiro wasnt a dominant victory. A win is a win.

I will count you among the shellshocked because of your game attendance history, although if you arent planning on attending this year, your prior attendance shouldnt be persuasive, no?

I know you're trying to be coy with that comment, but having finally logged on through the net instead of through tapatalk and having seen Yohio's abomination of a banner (I love you Y-ohi, but that thing is awful) has put me in a bad mood, so I will tell you that I don't think anyone says that giving up is why BYU lost; its just why they lost by so much. That is, of course, cold comfort, but it does make me hope even more fervently that BYU will make it hard for ute fans to have anything to be cute or coy about come Sunday morning.

Jordan Wynn, who in 2009 was named the Poinsettia Bowl MVP to cap the best season ever by a Utah true freshman, announced today that he is retiring from the sport after his fourth shoulder injury since 2010. Wynn was beginning his fourth season as the starter but was only a junior in eligibility due to a medical extension from the NCAA for his season-ending injury last year. He finishes his career with a 14-7 record and played in 22 games total. Wynn has had three shoulder surgeries (two to his left arm) and the extent of his latest shoulder injury is still being evaluated. He leaves the field ranked eighth in career passing yards at Utah ( 4,637 ), completing 60-percent of his pass attempts ( 375-of-621 ). Remember Game Day 2007 when you were trying to recruit me down from O-Town to go to the game with you, and I decided against it in light of the gnarly commute back to Davis County. There is no doubt in my mind that, had I been present that day, magic would not have happened.

Coy? Just doing some much-deserved teasing. I have never gloated here about the Utah win last year, but I think it is OK to twit BYU fans a little when they say, "It was only a beatdown because our team gave up." Very few here on CUF have expressed that idea, but it has popped up in this thread a couple of times.
