I am paraphrasing here. Does anyone else remember that post-game?

Unfortunately, that game turned out to be a great representation of BYU football in this era, actually. Losing games to good teams, looking for silver linings instead of addressing problems, and false confidence.

I wonder if Bronco has reached his ceiling. I wonder if he even knows how to fix this.
Pretty tough to fix it if you don't take the problem seriously. I think he hit is ceiling a looooong time ago.

The big issue here is that Bronco doesn't think anything is wrong.

Did you guys hear his post game remarks after Notre Dame? It was the epitome of calling the game a moral win.

In fairness to bronco, what do fans expect him to say? Jim Mora rants are the rare exception.

After suffering a loss, a coach has to balance media scrutiny with long-term job security. If I were Bronco, I would be wise to make every loss seem like the hardest fought battle imaginable. I would want to play up my opponents and accentuate the positive so that I can keep my employers at bay. Further, if I were Bronco, I would probably go Oedipus on my eyeballs out of shame for the types and size of clothes I wear. I may even do that during a press conference following a tough loss. Who would want to talk about the game after that?

He should listen to a Rose post game loss press conference. Real breakdowns of his team and the other team and the game. He doesn't insult the intelligence of the media and the fans.

At this point Bronco's ceiling is tied to his offensive coordinator (the defense is as good as it is ever going to be). IMHO his Doman hire lowered the current ceiling considerably.

I just don't think he is capable of attracting any OC that would increase his self-imposed ceiling. I'm sure there are capable candidates out there but I have hard time believing that working for Bishop Stephen R. McGoo is a big priority for most viable candidates.

Forget about the honor code, Bronco has his own code which includes 7 steps to mediocrity.

Funny. This team is loaded with talent at every position but one. I actually think the program is in relatively good shape once we get Riley off campus. I just hope Bronco doesn't put him on the staff . . .

Based on the amount of inexplicable playing time he gets, I think it is fair to assume that Riley has been all over Bronco's staff for the past two years now.

This is an easy answer. Instead of saying that they played their best game, he loved his QB play, etc. He could say, we need to make quicker adjustments defensively, we needed to tackle better, we need our Senior QB to make some plays when it counts and take care of the ball better. We need to reevaluate calling a really slow developing play action and losing 15 yards twice when we are in field goal territory, we need to be better with time and timeout management. On, and on, and on I could go.

But when you sit there and say everything is fine when you are losing, it just infuriates people. Be honest, and if you really think you are being honest, you are a lost cause and need to find a different job.

You haven't been watching the offensive line play much, have you?

When I see comments like this, I really have to wonder how so many fans have so grossly overrated our offensive talent this year. I'm not saying that the coaching hasn't been suspect, but lets not kid ourselves; this team is short on talent at multiple positions.

Hard to judge the rest of the talent with the shitty qb. Can we not run because we suck or because no one respects the our qb to get the ball deep? Can the online not block or is Riley holding the ball too long and always leaving the pocket.

Where else are you seeing these huge problems on offense? We have a good qb and we have beaten every team on this schedule.

You can start judging it by looking at their recruiting evaluations.

I'm saying that's a good baseline to start with. Our overall talent on offense is average at best and it's certainly not good enough to bail out a subpar QB.
