Could have been. Regardless, it was quick thinking and a good reaction by Foote to immediately turn and set the block.

The Good:



The Bad: Our D-line couldn't break through. Is this classic BYU "plug the holes" or really the sign of a horrible pash rush? Often I was surprised that they had an okay push, but couldn't shed their blocker and get their hands on the QB. Other times, they just looked bad. One positive note: I thought they did a great job of recognizing and defending the screen. On three occassions, Ansah and Manumaleuna recognized their screen and got back in coverage, giving the LBs enough time to come up and put on a hit. Thin silver lining, but I liked it.

When you have 5 OL blocking 3 (or sometimes even 2) DL, don't expect much of a pass rush. It wasn't in the game plan last night.

Don't talk down the Foote. He averaged over 6 yards/carry, blocked a punt, and set a wicked downfield block that allowed Friel to get into the endzone.

Easily the worst play of the game. It's one thing to run the ol' swinging gate formation on an extra point conversion (I still think it is lame - Sorry HFN). But from the twenty, it was plain stupid. Plus it resulted in a wasted timeout. Why are we even wasting time practicing that kind of play and formation? It's such a HS thing to do IMO.

Wazzu Offense will be really good. Will average more than 30 points a game and over 400 yards passing.

OK maybe not but Wazzu are better than what they showed last night. I believe this is BYU's best defense since 96.

Can you imagine being the receiver and seeing THAT across from you for a bump? Did anybody piss themselves?

It was kind of funny. I can imagine the receiver was wondering what the hell was going on. Ziggy really has developed. Like everything else he wasn't perfect but he's significantly better. It was fun to watch him.

Another part of the game I enjoyed was when Remington Peck recorded a sack on his first play.
