The list comes from Heaps personal mentor/coach. This is the same guy that leaked the story to that Seattle beat writer this morning at Jake's request. According to Harmon, this guy has been contacting teams to gauge interest in Jake. So there's a good chance these are teams in which there is mutual interest.

Could any part of that be an NCAA violation? I know schools can't contact a player until he is released, but is the act of shopping a player an issue? I don't know what the rules are in this case.

What I'm saying is demonstrably true. However, Heaps is leaving your school because you all will never forgive him for 54-10. He has to leave BYU because that happened. Everything I have ever said about BYU culture is more and more becoming empirically established. How's your Big 12 invitation coming?

I'll say it right now: If he goes to South Carolina, he fails. Miserably. Too much speed in the SEC (not that the PAC-12 is a picnic). If I'm him, I go to a Big 12 School where I get to face a bunch of cornfed, thick-ankled LBs and DBs who he may have a chance to run from.

The Big 12 isn't that far behind the SEC when it comes to defensive speed. The "cornfed, thick-ankled LBs and DBs" are a relic and have changed with the times. Most of the Big 12 programs recruit defensive speed from Texas and other places south and west of the "corn belt".

Perhaps Jake should worry more about transferring to a program with a good O-line that will protect him.

I forgot about 54-10 fairly quickly, in part b/c there was no point in obsessing over it.

I don't dislike Jake Heaps. I just don't think he's got what it takes to be a horribly good D-1 QB. The coaching should shoulder some of the blame for his lack of development, but I don't expect that Jake will have a fantastic college career.

Between Berry and Heaps, I think we have learned that we should give a 1.5 star discount to recruits out of the State of Washington.
