My bad. For some reason I thought he was an RM. Yeah, I remember that by the end of his career they wondered if he would even have normal functionality of his shoulders.Originally posted by TexTechCoug View PostBrandon Heaney was not a returned missionary. He was roomates with a couple of my freshman year friends over in Belmont and during his junior season his shoulder would dislocate if he rolled over wrong in his sleep. Nice guy, pretty quite, easy to mistake for an RM.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostMy bad. For some reason I thought he was an RM. Heaney was a very good corner. I've been watching older games this offseason and Heaney just makes play after play in those games.
P.S. McTyer > Morgan. That duo is easiliy the best duo in BYU history.

He had the rest, dude was just too short.
I was surprised about 4 years ago watching a CFL game with Cahoun and Omar Morgan was still playing up there. Seems he had a nice long career after he left BYU.

FYI, I was channeling Drew Miller's dad posting on cougar-net back in the day right there."It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

Maybe this belongs in the cougarboarders say the craziest things thread.
I guess somewhere Bronco recently said something about kids and the NFL and downplayed that as a goal kids should have. I am speculating based on snippets I have read. The above post I guess was supposed to be showing up of ridiculous fans who don't agree with Bronco.
A lot of CB seems to have become the expressing of an opinion and then retribution for having such an opinion.
As for me and my house, we are now very content to not pay attention to what Bronco says. It really doesn't matter does it.

I'm convinced that Bronco is very competitive and wants to win as many games as possible. Player development is an integral part of winning at the collegiate level. If BYU keeps winning games, it will be because they have talented players and/or players that are less talented, but have developed to a significant enough degree that they get the most out of their ability. The natural byproduct of this is a subset of players that will have an NFL future.
So it really doesn't matter if Bronco gives a shit about the NFL or not, because what Bronco does give a shit about will produce NFL players if Bronco is good at the stuff he gives a shit about.

Agree. When I hear these Olympic folks claim the Olympics and winning a medal was a goal since they were a kid or a great musician say that or painter, etc. I think, "who do they think they are shittin". Just because you have a goal as a kid doesn't mean jack. They should have been focusing on being a good person.Originally posted by Indy Coug View Post

The problem isn't the statement alone, but the statement combined with BYU's dearth of NFL talent the past few seasons. If you don't care explicitly about the NFL, but your program is cranking out NFL players like it has in the past, nobody will bat an eye at his statement. But when your program goes a couple years without a single NFL draftee, the statement seems problematic.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostHere is the article in question:

I would be OK with BYU putting some more kids into the NFL. It means they've got some talented players.
But I wouldn't trade NFL draftees for wins.
USU had what, 3 kids drafted? I'm guessing most of the fans would trade their 4-8 record for BYU's 10 wins, even if it meant no players drafted to the NFL.
