I don't think the intent of the computer polls or human polls was to ever create "the most interesting game". Matching up the two best teams was the goal.

And .950 to .930 in the computer polls is hardly a mandate.

If that's the goal, it shouldn't be. The goal should be to pit the two teams with the best claim to #1. Bama may have a better claim to #2 than OSU, but not to #1.

So much for the regular season mattering.
