Two OOC road games in 5 years.

That's not a comparison. That's a list. Please compare this to other teams and get back to me. Then I will start picking apart things like the Tulane games, the @TCU in 2014, the neutral with Oregon, etc.

Next year is admittedly soft and no doubt money is being exchanged with the other OOC schools (other than Wash). Which is perhaps the entire point.

I realize that money has pretty much everything to do with scheduling, but it doesn't mean that a team like LSU isn't too big of a pussy to go to Boise. I'd wager that with a green field and a lot of money for the opposing team, the SEC teams wouldn't go to Boise because it would risk their standing in the elite class they claim to be.

Not only gate revenues, but bowl revenue. Average/bad teams in BCS conferences schedule as many easy, home OOC games as possible because that extra game is so vital.

It's why I can't really fault Chris Hill for saying Utah's OOC scheduling philosophy will include two home games and (most likely) an in-state road game against USU or BYU.

The only real reason to not play BYU every year and substitute USU is because USU is a easy win. I guess that fits your argument but it is a shame the rivarly is in danger because Hill doesnt want another hard OOC game.

I'd actually like to do a scheduling analysis to see which teams really are stay-at-home types. Florida we know about. Seems to me that Bama is like LSU (the Penn State series jumps to mind). I know Tennessee has made a number of trips to SoCal in the past few years, not that the Vols have been good lately.

Bama is not like LSU. They played Clemson and VaTech in Atlanta in '08 and '09, and they were at Penn St this year, but outside of that and a home-and-home with FSU in 2006 and 2007, there hasn't been much travel since their bowl ban was lifted in 2003. From 2000 to '03, though, they did a decent amount of travel: at UCLA, at Hawaii (twice), at Oklahoma.

Tennessee and Ole Miss are probably the two most adventurous SEC teams in terms of OOC scheduling, but like you said, it's meant very little.

I don't think VaTech has ever invited Utah to travel to Blacksburg. But if it happened and Utah turned it down, I'd call Utah a bunch of pussies as well. (Nor do I think LSU has ever been invited to play at Boise.)

It'd even be fun to take on the Hokies at FedEx field where the Skins play and where BYU and WVA will be playing in what? 2013. Lots of Hokies around here so it'd hardly be neutral, but still fun whenever the Utes come east.
