  • Pac 12 coaches

Welcome to the hot seat, Sark.

Coaches likely fired at season's end: Neuheisel, Erickson, Nick Holt.

    Most overpaid: Holt, Erickson.

There are rumblings from fans that Wasu should fire their coach, Wulff. That would be a big mistake. He's taken them from the abyss to competitive. Arguagly he's done more than Sark has.

Best coach: Based on the available evidence the best coach in the Pac 12 is Kyle Whitthingham. He's brought his program the farthest, he does the most with his talent, he's reached a higher peak, he has overcome adversity, more than any Pac 12 coach. I'll fistfight anyone who disagrees with this assessment. 2011 may be his second most impressive coaching job ever. But he's not even reached his prime.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

these trolling efforts seem desperate. I noticed you tried to get something similar going in the Week 12 thread.

Utah's best win this year is probably UCLA (BYU going by record and polls, not that pollsters know anything). The Utes have done better than some expected in beating the dregs of a bad conference. You're getting way ahead of yourself.

I'm not interested in fist fighting. Kiff was really impressive last night, great game plan, great adjustments.

Chip does a lot of things really well, I'm glad he is the Ducks coach I wouldn't trade him for Whit, but I think Whit does a great job at Utah.

Rumors in the Eug are getting warm that Bellotti to Arizona is getting momentum. Add another good coach to the conf.

Yeah this is kind of funny.

Lane has been dealing with bowl bans, scholarship reductions, negative media outlets, biased polls, players transferring, etc. I'd argue that he has faced more adversity than whit lately.

I'm just trying to get more Pac 12 discussion going, since the Pac teams are the Utes' primary reference now.

Bad conference lol. It's all relative insn't it. What you are calling bad is balanced. BYU's independence schedule has put Boise's record the past 10 years in perspective, hasn't it.

The Pac will beat the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl this year as it almost always does.

Perhaps you should go to a PAC message board?

You succeeding in getting woot to bite, it seems. Not a total loss.

"Balanced" is one way to term a conference that has 3 good teams (one of which doesn't count) and then absolutely nothing.

Yes, Oregon will be favored over Wisconsin. If that seems like a good way to judge conference strength to you, you understand even less about football than I thought. Quite an accomplishment.

I realize that your not interested in really having a serious discussion, but Whittingham is certainly in the top tier of coaches in the Pac-12. I would take Kelly over Whittingham though. Kiffin seems to be developing into a good coach this year. Before this year, I would have put him in the mediocre category. He is now top tier and should be the Pac-12 coach of the year. David Shaw is currently a mystery. Mike Riley has had a few tough years, but I'm impressed by anyone who can have 4 straight winning seasons at Oregon St.

Sark may grow into his position but as of right now he isn't a good head coach.

Belotti would be a very good hire for Arizona. I don't think Belotti is a great coach or a guy to take a program to the top, but he will build a consistent winner.

Erickson and Neuheisel both need to be fired now.

I realize that this isn't your main point, but you might not want to use Boise in your argument given that they killed Utah last year. Furthermore, they almost always performed superbly in their big games.

The Boise model is play two competitive games a year, the first usually on the blue turf.

You do realize our qb has been injured the majority of the past two seasons.

I don't care what Boise has done in its matchups with Utah. It does have a genius of luck for playing BCS teams at the right time. If Boise were in the Pac it wouldn't be undefeated all those years. It's even shown some vulnerability in the MWC.

EDIT: this is my last post about Boise. I don't care about Boise. I think Boise will largely disappear now that its qb is leaving.

I am interested in a serious discussion. Kelly has coached for two years. What he has done is like what Erickson did at Miami, only not nearly as impressive. He hasn't screwed up a cresting program. Erickson at least won two national championships. I'd like to see what Kelly would do at Utah with what Whit has overcome and the resourses including limited recruiting advantages that Whit has to maximize. I'd also not trade Whit's 2008 season for anything Kelly has done.

The Pac 12 is closer to the Mountain West than it is to the Big 10.
