I'm just repeating what ESPN said, that if TCU or Southern Miss gets into the top 16 and no Big East team is ranked ahead of them they get it. I do not claim this knowledge to be mine or correct, rather what was reported by Rece Davis.Get confident, stupid

It's been like that for a while. TCU plays Colorado State and UNLV to finish out the year so they won't go up very much. Southern Miss plays bad UAB and Memphis, however will get a big boost assuming Houston wins out (They still have Tulsa and SMU so that isn't an easy road yet).Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI'm just repeating what ESPN said, that if TCU or Southern Miss gets into the top 16 and no Big East team is ranked ahead of them they get it. Thus, the Conference USA Championship Game winner is probably going to get the non-AQ bid. Unless Cincinnati or West Virginia decide to step up and win the rest of their games and get into the Top 16.
What I meant in my previous post earlier is that I doubt TCU will be ahead of Southern Miss in the rankings if Southern Miss beats Houston for C-USA. The win will propel them over TCU, and TCU or Boise State isn't getting at-large bids either, that's why 2 non-AQ's aren't getting in.Last edited by UtahJazzFan88; 11-13-2011, 08:25 PM.

I just don't see Southern Miss jumping Boise by winning out. Their closing stretch before Houston is as bad as anything Boise faces in its final three games (at UAB, vs. Memphis). Beating Houston isn't going to merit the 8-10 spots USM is going to need to overtake Boise.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostIt's been like that for a while. If Houston stumbles, I can't imagine Boise, which is still solidly inside the top 16, not making it to a BCS game.

And I'm specifically saying ESPN is wrong, not trying to single you out for "believing" incorrect information.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI'm just repeating what ESPN said, that if TCU or Southern Miss gets into the top 16 and no Big East team is ranked ahead of them they get it. You have to win your conference I believe in order to qualify for an auto bid from what I read (Boise State isn't getting an at large either), and TCU has basically locked up the Mountain West with them playing UNLV and Colorado State. Southern Miss will jump TCU in the BCS standings if they beat Houston (tall task).Originally posted by Top Ute View PostI just don't see Southern Miss jumping Boise by winning out. Bah, you're right. And I was wrong about Boise. And ESPN was right. And HFN was relaying the right information.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostYou have to win your conference I believe in order to qualify for an auto bid from what I read (Boise State isn't getting an at large either), and TCU has basically locked up the Mountain West with them playing UNLV and Colorado State. The folks on ESPN's BCS show are on drugs about TCU and Southern Miss in a BCS bowl. Early projections are showing Okie and Houston in the fiesta bowl. It should be an easy win for Okie. Or in the Sugar bowl against Alabama. There's no possibility but a blowout for bama with this matchup.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostAccording to the BCS show on ESPN, both TCU and Southern Miss are still alive to go to the BCS ahead of the Big East rep. They were adding one of these schools in addition to Houston, who they specifically said controlled their BCS destiny.
It looks like the predictions for the armed forces bowl is BYU and Tulsa. Utah could be playing TCU, Texas, or Georgia Tech. Texas could be playing UCLA, Utah, or ASU according to these projections."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

If TCU gets into a BCS bowl (it's not ENTIRELY out of the question yet), I bet they pose a challenge to anyone they face. Pachall has looked like Andy Dalton ever since they lost to SMU (I didn't watch a lot of the game they played against BYU, but he looked great in the other ones). Sucks that TCU lost both of their games in nail bitters. Houston I think might be able to play decent, but they scream too much of the Colt Brennan/June Jones Hawaii team to me. I haven't followed Southern Miss to really say anything about them, but their wins have made Boise State's schedules from previous years look like an SEC schedule.
As far Utah's bowl match-up. I've seen predictions of Utah vs. Texas/Missouri in the Holiday Bowl. Utah matches up great with both teams IMO and could win those. Utah vs. Georgia Tech seems to be the choice for the Sun Bowl for a lot of people, I think they match-up decently in that. Utah against Boise State or TCU is horrible match-up for the Utes though.
As far as BYU in the Armed Forces Bowl. I like the match-up of any of the C-USA teams that have been predicted to go against BYU (Tulsa/SMU/Southern Miss), all 3 of those are pretty evenly matched to BYU in my opinion at this rate.Last edited by UtahJazzFan88; 11-13-2011, 10:47 PM.
