As a Raiders fan, I wanted him. As a fan of tOSU, I really wanted him in Oakland. This is about as close as you can come to a perfect hire. Congrats. I look forward to how much crap JH gives Urban. If he couldn't get along with Pete Carroll, the Urban dynamic will be enjoyable to watch.

If you think Harbaugh turned down money you are crazy. The offer was never as high as most thought, that's it. He didn't turn down money because he didn't want to be the highest paid coach, that is complete bullshit.

Do you have anything other than cynical emotion on which you base this extreme confidence?

If money were at the top of JH's list, he might have waited until NFL teams were legally able to contact him before agreeing to coach Michigan, and he might have allowed more than 18 hours for offers to roll in before boarding the plane. With such a weak crop of NFL HC candidates this year, do you really think no NFL team was willing to offer him more than he was already making at SF?

Harbaugh seems to have made assistant salaries a priority, perhaps hoping to avoid the fates of RichRod, Kyle Whittingham, and many others. Harbaugh's coaching tree is already ridiculously good. It's not clear whether the assistant salary pool is related to his keeping the same salary as at SF or whether it was just another point of negotiation. It also seems that he may simply have preferred to take the lower base salary in exchange for higher success bonuses in order to ameliorate some of the pressure to win immediately.
