Reality day.
1. The jump from the MWC to the Pac really is a big one.
2. A bad Pac-12 defense > than a good MWC/independent mid major defense.
3. No Wynn, all bets are off.
4. Win or lose, I will enjoy this season because being in the Pac > than being in the MWC.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."
Gen. Burkhalter: "Klink, I am a staff officer."
Col. Klink: "I didn't mean you sir, you're not clever."

#2 is simply not true. Bad P12 defenses have been losing to MWC teams every year.Originally posted by Flattop View PostReality day.

byus d is better than Washington on a normal day imo. Not hard to score 54 when the other team turns it over 7 times.Originally posted by Flattop View PostReality day.

The good thing about being in a BCS conference is you really can look forward to next week. The Utes can claim they are better than they showed and have a chance for redemption next week. I would be excited, although nervous, for the ASU game.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostWow. I got home when the game was in the fourth quarter, turned on the game to catch the score, and was shocked. I really thought that Utah would take this one. Sorry to all the Utah fans.
Is anyone in the state of Utah excited about college football this season?
Us, we can blow out San Jose St. and still wonder if we are better than we showed so far.

Seems to me that the team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins. Utah made lots of mistakes tonight (I counted 6 TOs, one that turned immediately into a TD and two others in the WU redzone as we were about to score) and Washington hardly made any mistakes. To me that means they outplayed us and thus won the game. They deserved to win. I just hope this game can be an important moment in the team's and the program's growth.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostPlease, I haven't seen any Ute fans claiming that the momentum wasn't turned by the turnovers in the BYU game. Of course the turnovers turned the momentum. What you have is Ute fans combating the complete horseshit from BYU fans that every turnover was completely because of BYU and Utah had nothing to do with a 54-10 victory.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

The enjoyment of watching Utah get thoroughly dominated at home by a mediocre Washington team was tempered by the knowledge that BYU is going to a Big 12 conference that is vastly superior to the PAC 12. We are in trouble. I truly thought Utah could compete in the PAC 12. It's sobering.Just try it once. One beer or one cigarette or one porno movie won't hurt. - Dallin H. Oaks

Meh... It might take a couple years, but both BYU and Utah can compete in the big boy leagues. Give em a little time.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostThe enjoyment of watching Utah get thoroughly dominated at home by a mediocre Washington team was tempered by the knowledge that BYU is going to a Big 12 conference that is vastly superior to the PAC 12. Yeah, it is sobering, but it might not be as bleak as all that. Maybe it's only half as bleak.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostThe enjoyment of watching Utah get thoroughly dominated at home by a mediocre Washington team was tempered by the knowledge that BYU is going to a Big 12 conference that is vastly superior to the PAC 12. We need some more games before we know how wide the divide is. I think the biggest problem might be depth, just as Meyer always used to say and Whit still says. Our 1's may - may - be able to hold their own, but the dropoff at the 2 level seems pretty steep.

I went to this game, since a friend of mine had some extra tickets and invited me. Here's my take for what it's worth:
Utah seemed to be moving the ball pretty well, but redzone turnovers killed them. Redzone turnovers nearly cost the Trojans the game with the Utes, it's just huge. Utah seemed to lose steam in the second half. Washington had a few nice plays, which came at the right time. I think the adjustment for Utah in the PAC is hopefully going to settle in. Hearing from Utah fans about how they would immediately dominate in the PAC was getting a bit old.
Good luck against ASU. You are going to need it.

Yep, I am beginning to think this independence thing is going to be great. Utah has to play ASU and Pitt and some other BCS teams. We get Idaho, Idaho St. San Jose St. and New Mexico St. We could be 7-2 and crying we aren't in the top 25 while the poor Utes will struggle to have a break even record.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostThe enjoyment of watching Utah get thoroughly dominated at home by a mediocre Washington team was tempered by the knowledge that BYU is going to a Big 12 conference that is vastly superior to the PAC 12.
