It's not the Haka they were doing. The ESPN announcers mid-identified it.Originally posted by YOhio View PostDid anyone else see the Ute players doing the Haka before the game? They showed it on ESPN. I wasn't offended. I'm sure LAU, Scorcho, NWUF and Flattop were beside themselves.

BYU showed a lot of resiliency. And I've seen the BYU comeback before, multiple times. My heart was in my throat after Nelson marched right down the field to make it 24-14.
I think BYU has a very good chance against Boise. It should be a competitive game."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I know BYU fans have mixed feelings about Nelson but the guy is such a gamer that he scares me (as an opposing fan). On that 4th and long that he converted I was saying to my sons, "That guy is going to find a way," and he did.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostBYU showed a lot of resiliency. Hays and Nelson have a similar skill set.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI think you would hate him if he was your QB.
But I can understand where BYU fans are coming from; they've had excellent QB play in their history, and seem to recruit the position well. Outside of a 6-year window where we had Alex Smith go 22-1 and Brian Johnson lead us to a #2 ranking, the QB position at Utah has been inconsistent at best."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Really? If by "limited" skill set, then I guess I could agree.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostHays and Nelson have a similar skill set.
But they are completely different players.
Nelson is a better runner. He's much more likely to create something out of nothing. OTOH, he's not as good of a passer and he's more likely to make mistakes.
Hays is a better passer. He's not as effective running, but he can scramble. Hays is not going to pull something out of his ass. What Nelson did on that 4th down play at the end of the game would NEVER happen with Hays. Never. However, last night, we say that Hays is a better game manager than Nelson and he isn't necessarily going to lose games with boneheaded plays, fumbles or turnovers.
While neither QB is very good, I don't seem them being all that similar.

I'm sure we'd find him frustrating. Then again, I'm impressed by how difficult it is to land and develop good D1 QB talent.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI think you would hate him if he was your QB.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”
